EXCELENTE

Tecsun PL-606 Portable Radio
Very nice compact radio. Slips into the pocket easy. Having many memories for AM, FM and Short Wave bands makes it easy to tune for stations. Nice clear audio through the front speaker or the supplied stereo ear buds. Met expectations.

Great performance in a pocket-size package
The Good News: reception, sensitivity and discrimination are superb - and adjustable.The Bad News: Controls and manual are less than intuitive.Unlike most On-Off AM-FM radios, the 606 offers extensive customization - if you just want to open the box, pop in two batteries and head down the road you're in trouble.And, while it is all there in the Operation Manual, the style is terse - I had to read several sections several times to get things to work.That said, the adjustable AM bandwidth is worth the whole package - open wide for reception from afar, or choke it down to squelch noisy neighboring stations.There is no direct digital input (9 - 7 - 0) but there is a fast scroll that, for me, works as well. And ETF will find and store all stations with sufficient power for listening (in the hills of southern Arizona I scanned 60 AM stations at 3 in the afternoon). TIP: scan in a location with the best reception to get the most stations; scan in a closet (!) to limit storage to just the strongest. EFT stores temporarily - any station can then be added to one of 550 permanent slots.One of my favorite radios has been my Sony ICF SW-100 World Traveler (made in Japan - an oldie) which pulled in Washington in Beijing, Beijing in Chicago and most of Europe & Russia across most of America and vice-versa. The 606 has fewer total bands, but band-for-band it's better, almost the same size but a third lighter. After being disappointed by Sangean, Grundig and contemporary Sonys, the 606 is an out-of-the-park home run.If you get one, hold off on the Scotch until after you've read the Operations Manual, have set the clock and punched a few stations into permanent memory. Then celebrate.And if you want concerts, use earphones: the internal speaker is fine for talk and casual music listening, but it ain't hi-fi. And only earphones are stereo.Do I like it? I like it so much I'm tempted to get another one just for the hell of it.

Probably the best ultra portable radio;
The reception and sound quality is outstanding, even in difficult areas that have interference from other electronics/computers power adapters, etc. I used Grundig Satallit and CCrane Skywave SSB, arguably this is a better radio particularly on AM band and with almost identical form factor to Skywave, in fact this radio feels slightly slimmer than skywave. Like the Skywave it runs on just 2xAA batteries, in case you run out of battery it's easy to find a pack of AA batteries and when you break open a fresh pack of 4, you don't have an odd 1 left over like most other similar radios that need 3xAA batteries. Battery capacity gauge is a very helpful and you have option to recharge NiMH batteries in the radio.ETM function is very useful, once you use it you will realize it's much more convenient than using direct entry keypad. Band scan for ETM is fast.Amber display is easy to read with useful information such as signal to noise ratio, current time, alarm time, etc.External antenna jack input is good option to have.Sleep timer can be set and changed with tuning button.Very easy to set time and wake up alarm, but alarm wake volume is fixed at 10, in case you were listening at a low volume at night, when alarm goes off it sets the alarm wake volume to 10 which is plenty loud. Maximum volume level is very loud at 30. I never needed to turn the volume above 9.Wake up alarm can be enabled and disabled with a simple push of a button.This radio makes an excellent travel radio alarm clock.Volume control is not precisely linear but it works good, I can't stress enough how good the reception and sound quality is on this little radio. I doubt you can find anything better out there that is comparable to price-performance and form factor. If you do find anything better, please let me know.
