Use a tape measure or yard stick. Measure from the base of the neck where it meets the top of the shoulder, out to the tip of the middle finger. If the measurement is between full inches, choose the larger measurement. For example, if the measurement is 23 ½ inches, size up to 24 inches for your twirling baton.If taking baton twirling lessons or a class, it is a good idea to ask the instructor for their preference in measuring for a baton. Some people prefer to measure from underneath the arm at the arm pit, and others prefer this top of the shoulder method. It will be a difference of just 2 or 3 inches.
