Its a hinge. It works and is pretty sturdy.

I noticed right away that there was excessive play between the two hinge leafs. These are advertised as a hinge for a slant front desk. As the hinge is moved into the open position the leafs become misaligned. This would cause the writing portion of the desk to move out of alignment with the desk body and would eventually fail. The hinges do not lay flat when opened. One leaf is at a slight upward angle. This would cause the writing surface of the desk to be at an angle, sloping towards the desk. Definately not worth the purchase price.

Looked locally in all hardware stores and could not find anything to replace the original hinges. These were exactly like the original, very sturdy, a good price and shipped quickly.

It fit perfect the dimension written in the description was correct

Sometimes it's hard to find hardware for antique furniture, I'm glad I found these! They work great
