Q: Do all images end up upside down in this ball?

Yes,upside down but right way round, ( far as I remember - ages since last used)

Q: Does it come with a glass stand

No it comes in a bag but not with a stand.

Q: Is it best to get a tripod stand with this im getting it for a present and not sure

It comes with its own little stand. The whole thing is lovely quality.

Q: Does this work ok with mobile phone pictures?

I use mine with my Sony Lumia and Alcatel 5 phones. The photos I uploaded with my review were done with the Alcatel 5 which isn't the best phone camera but they turned out okay.
