I saw a recipe for the "RAISIN’ CANE OLD-FASHIONED" cocktail that calls for cane syrup. After searching awhile this seemed like the perfect cane syrup to try. I have used it several times and it does make a tasty drink. It is very thick so it takes a lot of stirring to get it completely mixed in. I also found that if I followed the recipe as written it was a little too sweet for my tastes. I backed the cane syrup down in steps until I got to a half tsp of syrup and that's perfect for me.

During my childhood in South Carolina, a syrup pitcher was always on the table. The brand was not Steen’s back then for pure cane syrup. The syrup we ate with biscuits and butter for dessert in days when real desserts were scarce is still around but is now mixed with corn syrup. Not the taste I remember. Several years ago I found Steen’s while looking for cane syrup for pecan pies. It was the taste I remembered. No syrup pitcher on the table these days, but when I have a fresh pan of biscuits and some butter, I pour some Steen’s in a saucer and mash the butter into the syrup. Sopping it up with a biscuit takes me back about 75 years. It’s not molasses so don’t expect that. It is the real deal pure cane syrup. And it makes a great pecan pie. I never run out of it .

I've been using Steen's for many years and adore it. Sadly, for me, I'm in the northeast and it's impossible to find here...so I order it. 3 shipments in a row have now been damaged, all within ten days. Fantastic product. Disastrous packaging and shipping issues. I'm not the only one to leave this type of review. In two of the shipments, the drivers should've caught it--there was obvious syrup leaking out of the unopened box. In both cases, bottles were broken during shipment and leaked all over inside of box. They are wrapped in bubble wrap but they are very loose inside the box and cannot handle being dropped, obviously.Update: After the 3rd refund within a week, the last Amazon associate I spoke to said it would be reviewed and unavailable for shipment for a while until they got to bottom of the pkg issue. 2-3 days later it's still available to add to cart. Doesn't look like anything is being done. Buyer beware. 5 star product. 0-1 star pkg and shipping. Hoping they fix problem soon because I would like to buy more! Might have to switch to cans.

This product is packaged very well for shipping and always arrives in great condition. The flavor and consistency is just what natural cane syrup should be. Delicious!
