Colorimetrics Black Putty Tape / Butyl Tape 1/8" x 3/4" x 30' by DEHCO

We purchased this item for our "new to us" RV. We had to check the electrical cord for fraying wires, so we had to take the plug and housing off the outside of the RV. The waterproofing provided by the manufacturer was insufficient (at best) so we used this black, soft tape to line the back of the electrical cord plate, smushed it back onto the RV, then sculpted the black putty around the plate to make sure that no water or other debris could get in. Hopefully, this tape will do what it's supposed to in the next heavy rain.

I used this butyl tape for repairing an HVAC box on my 1985 Mercedes 500 SEC. I wrapped the tape around the pipes from the AC Evaporator where they enter the expansion valve. This keeps condensation from forming and keeps the box relatively air tight.I have also used this tape for sealing a broken hose on my 1995 Mercedes S500 windshield washer hose. The line was split and leaking. Wrapping this around the hole helped stop the leak.Pretty great stuff for making things airtight and relatively waterproof. I probably need more experience in laying it up, but it is very tacky and will stick to your hands easily making it difficult to work with. I'm sure there are techniques for applying it more reliably, but that is my fault, not this product's.

Worked for what we needed it for. Please note that it did kinda melt in the packaging with it being warmer outside.

I used this butyl tape when installing some windows on a kids playhouse. It fit the nailing flange well. Stuck to the aluminum great. Compresses evenly and trims off clean with a sharp blade. I would definitely use this again. I would also recommend it.

This stuff is even capable of sticking to semi dirty surfaces. You can increase how sticky it gets by pulling it apart multiple times. Just be careful because once it seeps into your skin pores it is hard to clean off. I had to use sandpaper to get it off my fingers once.

Butyl Tape 1/8" x 3/4" x 30' I used this to seal up the third brake light for my Ford Ranger. Because it was leaking.There will never dry out or damage the paint. It definitely did a great job and stop leaking. Great product to stop water from coming in. I did not want to use VTR Silicone Products ,Brian

This tape makes a nice seal for our porch glass to the frames they are set into.

Hasn't leaked yet. Very tacky and elastic, quite wide too. Used to seal back glass on my pickup truck. I folded the tape along it's length to halve the width and double the thickness. Worked like a charm.Only issue was the tape roll was squished square (as you can see from the picture) which caused some of the layers to separate from one another, which exposed the adhesive to dust and air. Small complaint I know, but nevertheless worth mentioning.
