Yes, it plays audio books. It has good volume and if it is preferred, there is a headphone jack.

Q: Does this player bookmark the last position?

not in my experience. I would have to scroll through the CD for the song desired...it does play randomly, if desired.

Q: Is there any information on the company to make a return as the CD player stopped working 5 days after my return option with Amazon ended.?

Ours lasted 1 hour for the CD player and 3 hours for the aux input.
