Hilarious Sounds (and Educational) for My 18mo Son!
My son was skeptical as he can get frustrated matching shaped pieces into their proper fitting slots...ex: triangle prism into triangle shaped hole. Lately, if he doesn't get something on the first try, he get's a lil annoyed. However, he was immediately drawn in by the sounds. The (3) shapes (circle, triangle, square) make a unique sound when dropped into the proper slot. They make an even better one when the entire toy is flipped over and the shapes dump out. The latter sound brings hysterical laughter and the desire to do it all over again. The shapes have small holes that draw in air as they move down the shoot. Side note, when I take one of the shapes into my mouth and blow into it, it sounds like a kazoo or duck call, adding entertainment. He was already familiar with circle, square and triangle and call's them out each time he inserts one into the slot, and now is comfortable shifting the shapes around and trying different slots/angles until he is successful.Considering that this toy helps with dexterity, patience, identifying & organizing visual information by learning shapes, AND delivers belly laughs...it is an absolutely steal! Especially compared to other items I've purchased (elsewhere) that never seemed to catch his attention or keep it longer than a day.

Discontinued :( Buy before its too late!
I bought this for my son at the recommendation of his occupational therapist to get him started on shape sorting. She said to start at 12 mo and it should be mastered by 18 mo. He has mastered this at 14 mo. and I think a lot of it is due to the design of this toy. HE LOVES IT. He loves the funny little whistle type sounds the shapes make as they go down the tube and he likes to roll the sorter itself on the wood floor. His favorite thing is to run around with the shapes blowing into them to make the noise himself. We clap every time he puts the shapes in correctly and since he can't take the top off, he has actually learned to manipulate the shapes instead of focusing on trying to take the lid off the way he did with the cheap fisher price one. The only thing is that he broke the whistle mechanism on the little yellow circle so it doesn't make sound anymore. I called Battat to ask for replacement pieces and the customer service lady told me that they have discontinued this toy and that spare parts are not available. I am really glad we got this toy and I would highly recommend it. It is the best shape sorter I've seen around and I haven't seen anything similar to this. I considered buying another in case I have other children one day but I think ours is good enough quality that it will last a long time (even if one piece doesn't whistle anymore who cares). It has really helped my son master shape sorting quickly.

Simple, easy to carry and store, loads of fun!
I don't know if it's the funny sound that it makes when the little shapes go down, or the way it looks, but my kids ADORE this little toy. It may seem extra simple in the picture, but we met this lovely object in my kids occupational therapy session a year ago and I finally decided to buy it for her because it seemed like the only toy she wanted to practice her shape mating exercise with. When we had it delivered I not only saw her expected excitement, but baby brother, not even a year old yet, was also immediately hooked on trying to squeeze the circle on the circle hole and hear the funny sound.I love it because you only have to remember to look for 4 pieces during clean up time to leave it ready for another day. It's nice to look at, the kids love it, small and easy to carry, sometimes we even take it to the park if nothing else seems interesting, I pull it out and have them practice their shapes and fin motor skills in the fresh air.I would give this as a gift to any kid. It's a simple game but it's super popular!

My son LOVES this toy
They have a few of these shape sorters at my son's nursery school. All of the kids gravitate to them, from ages 8 months to 2 years (the younger babies don't seem very interested). My son (who is 14 months) spent a good hour figuring it out, trying to sort the shapes over and over again. I finally found it on amazon (I wish they'd put shape sorter in the title!) and jumped on it. What's different about this sorter is that once the kid gets the shape in the right hole, it makes this super weird, cool sound as it floats to the bottom of the tube. The babies think it's hysterical (and so do I). There aren't too many shapes (3) so it's not super frustrating for them, and they like turning it over to get the shapes out (which also makes it into a sort of rattle). This is by far the best shape sorter I've purchased so far (and I've purchased a lot of them!!!). Highly recommend.I wish they'd sell the shapes individually. My son plays with it so much that we inevitably loose the pieces... So it'd be nice to have some backups.

5 star toy
This toy is really great at keeping a young toddler's attention because the pieces make a whistling sound as they slide down the tubes. With other shape sorter toys, my son would lose interest if he tried a few times and could not fit the pieces in properly. This toy, however, holds his interest longer than any other shape sorter. Very good for developing fine motor skills. Plus, it makes noise with NO batteries! (Bonus!) This is a great toy for any toddler, but I think it is a very good fit for those who have shorter attention spans when it comes to attending to tasks. Plus, my son is so proud of himself when he puts the pieces in correctly as he gets a very satisfying whistle to let him know that it worked. The tubes are clear so the kids can see the pieces slide down. Great purchase.
