An Illustrated Field Guide to the Elements and Principles of Art + Design

This guide helps me compose and design my artwork (oil painting and photography). It’s good to use for considering alternative design ideas, and to occasionally help break through a creative ‘slump’.

This book quickly and intelligently groups all the good stuff for design and composition; I intend to use this in many of my classes. Good read.

This is a fantastic, very succinct, guide to the basics. As close to a cheat sheet as you can get, but in book form.

I read this book for a master’s level graphic design class. I’m very impressed. I found it thorough and it presents ideas in an easy way to understand. I will definitely be keeping this in my library as a reference.
