Careful, this one is not Alaska rated/ quality!
First off I am here in Alaska and putting this through the records here. The jacket first off appears impressive. This is well made and very heavy duty. But, thats were it ends. The problem is the material. This is a very thick shell, very heavy and when it gets very cold the material gets very stiff. I assumed since this is the best of the best from Frabill it could cut the requirements of the Arctic but I am wrong. There is more. The jacket cuffs. The velcro is right against the edge of the cuffs and if your gloves are off the stiff edge cuts into your wrists. Next jacket problem is it does not have a waist line elastic or any ability to cut off the air as it runs up the jacket. This needs a waste line sinch belt. The neck collar, elbow reinforsements, Ice picks and hat are about the only well thought out parts.Next is the liner. The liner is of the wrong material and you get convection tranfer here. The cold cuts through the shell then through the liner to your body which means you still need more layers not to mention this heavy weight jacket. Kind of defeats the purpose don't you think?Again the liner. The liner does not have elastic cuff extentions which means the air runs right up the arms. Why would you not have cuff seals?I really dont think this has any boyancy properties. To stiff, no entersticial air pockets and a farely flat liner.Frabills web site states this is rated -15F and below. I myself find this is rated down to 0F only. Don't bet your life on this one. This is not Arctic ready. Sad since I spent so much on something that can't be used. I will use this when I get down into Anchorage. From Wasilla North.....Forget it.

Great jacket
I used this jacket while fishing at Lake of the Woods, mn. We started out one morning and it was 21 below with a 15 MPH wind. The jacket was awesome. It kept me comfortable while setting up our portable houses. The reinforced elbows and lots of pockets are a plus. The jacket is a little bulky but a small price to pay for warmth. Can't wait to use it for opening fishing without the liner.
