What is yellow moong dal?

Moong dal is mung beans that have been split and had their green skins removed. The ingredient is Moong Dal (Split Moong Beans Without Skin). It is different from whole green mung beans and split mung with skin.

Can I make vegan omelets with it?

Yes. Soak the dal, drain and blend it into batter with your chosen seasonings. Use a recipe for moong dal omelets or scrambles, and cook the batter thoroughly. The dry dal itself contains no egg or dairy.

Do I need to soak it before cooking?

Preparation depends on your dish. For dal, sort and rinse, then cook with water until soft. For blended batters, soak before draining and blending. Follow your recipe and cooker instructions; cooking time varies.

Where is it from, and how should I store it?

Product of India. Rani is a USA-based company established in 1979. Store the dry dal in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Reseal after opening or transfer to an airtight container.

What does the allergen label say?

Processed on machinery that also processes peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy, mustard and sesame seeds. The label says gluten-free status cannot be guaranteed due to incidental contact.
