The Compact Up-to-Date English-Hebrew / Hebrew-English Dictionary (55,000 Entries) (Hebrew Edition)

I have been using this dictionary for a few years and love it. It has a brief introduction on Hebrew and verb conjugation that is helpful. The definitions include many commonly used street phrases. I use it when going through bible texts and most of the time I can find what I need. I am also taking a conversation course and it is usually right on. The book is very compact and even when used daily for a 3 or 4 years, It has held up nicely without loosing any pages. The construction seems quite good. The dictionary does come also in a Hebrew-English version only, with the Hebrew words alphabetized. It is thin and very useful when looking at Hebrew only texts. This is one of my favorite tools that makes understanding Hebrew very helpful. Ignore the error "Greek Edition". There is no Greek in this book.

I like the compactness of this dictionary. Some people may not appreciate its arrangement. But I prefer the Hebrew - English arrangement as it forces the learner to think in Hebrew terms, allows the more advanced students to work from a Hebrew base, and gives the native speaker and translator an easy-to-use reference. A good traveller's dictionary.

Great collection but very small print. I would prefer larger print but it did say compact and it is easier to store and tote. I use a magnifier to see the Hebrew print better.

Purchased this dictionary to replace previous edition, which I had misplaced. However previous edition has 82,000 entries vs. only 55,000 for this edition. Therefore many common words are missing. Nevertheless, the "compact" edition is easy to bring along on a trip.

This dictionary is for people who don't know English. For English speaking people this dictionary is too small to read vowel sounds. Not to mention I had to wait a month to have it delivered.

Small pocket dictionary

This is the only dictionary i use to look up Hebrew words. it is extensive and very portable and because it doesn't contain english to hebrew making it much thinner i also find flipping through it to find words is easier and faster than the bigger bulkier dictionaries. I have used it for several years now and needed a new one when i couldn't find my old one (since found).

Not what I wanted. Wanted actual words not characters. I mean Hebrew words and meanings the one I bought is of no use to me
