Semogue best brushes in the world and great 2 band badger
I just got my semogue soc 2 banc cherry wood and i also own the semogue 1305 all i wanted to say is that well first about this one the soc 2 band badger i was worried about spending 70 dollars on a little brush like this especially that i had become a hard core synthetic brushrs and i had said i would never ever own or buy a animal hair brush again but i was curious one day and i looked some videos on youtube and some wet shavers raved and bragged abput this brush that it was the best they had ever used so i really tought about it and got me thinking until one day i woke up this was about a couple weeks ago and said i didn't wanted to leave this world die and never try a nice silvertip brush especially a 2 band with youtubers said it had good back bone over the tegular silvertip and but to be honest i wasn't really excited about the backbone as i was used to the synthetic brushes that usually lack of backbone. I don't wanna make this too long but the first time i used this brush was like something very special and i was very super happy soo much that I'm.gonna get another one i usually feel bad after a purchase but no regrets here this brush is my new favorite i don't think it can ever be dethrone i own a lot of brushes mostly synthetics but wow also i can say my semogue 1305 is by far the best boar brush in the world including all semogue boars not just the 1305 all in all i think semogue is the best most affordable brushes in the world no qurstions asked now im back to animal.hair brushes and will start my collection on all semogue brushes only im done looking around for other brands i will only get semogue well also synthetics too im not gonna lie but i highly reco this brush and all semogue brushes. You just cant go wrong you just get way more quality than what you pay for hope this helps any new or old fellow wet shaver make their decision about getting this or the other semogue brushes..

Nice product n well made
Out of the box, there was an odd smell to the brush but after several washings, latherings and combings the brush is 1st class all the way. No more smelling like a Badger. The brush is a wee bit smaller than what I was expecting but is still quite large in size. The S O C has a bit more backbone but has begun to soften up a bit. I'm just now starting to notice the differences between the various stiffnesses or the backbone in a silvertip hair brush. I can produce an adequate lather in bowl or on face. My next brush from Semogue will be of less backbone as I prefer to face lather to bowl.A great brush in this price range.Photos to let the guy looking for a new brush or his first brush a comparison of these (4) Semogue brushes. The 4020 HD is on it's way now .. Photos to follow .. ;-)

Scratchier than even their own Boar
I loved my SOC boar brush. I bought this two band badger hoping to move to a slightly softer brush that would still have sufficient backbone to lather harder soaps. I am very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent brush, but the same company's SOC boar is a softer, more luxuriant feeling brush for $10 less. I expected better.

Good brush
I ordered this CHERRY handled brush, but got the ash handle. I know this because I have the boar version in ash, and they’re identical. The brush itself has good backbone and a perfect loft height for face/bowl lathering. It’s not that soft at all right now, but hopefully it’ll soften up a bit over time.

Has a bit of a wild animal scent to it after use
I used this to apply my shave cream to my face and, after shaving and washing the brush, I noticed a striking smell coming from the brush. I brought it closer to my nose and the thing smelled like it came straight from the woods. Almost as if a small animal was in my room! I'm sure it will go away with time, but I can't imagine that there's no way to remedy that before it goes to the consumer.I will say, the crafting of this brush is quite amazing. It is a satisfying tool to use while shaving and the brush itself is very soft.

Love the brush- the handle isnt nearly as nice as you think it will be
This is a great brush. Good density of soft badger hair - soft like gel on the face. Holds a bunch of lather and is overall a pleasure to shave with. However, don't look at the picture and think you are going to get a beautiful handle that looks like it was made from a burl of cherry wood. You will get a cherry handle that looks more like the clear, straight grain of a kitchen cabinet. Very little grain, and hardly any color variation. Yes, the handle is cherry. Yes, the brush is a great performer. But the pictures in the item description are pretty misleading compared to what you will actually get. They really should offer a premium version of this brush in a burl wood handle, and list this one with a more accurate picture.

Finally upgraded to a real badger brush
Got into wet shaving about a year ago, with a Rockwell 6C razor and a cheap starter boar brush. Finally decided to upgrade my kit and after reading a lot of reviews went with the S.O.C. Cherry Wood, and I'm so glad I did! As other reviewers have mentioned, it's got a great combination of softness and structure. Initially I thought it was too firm, but the brush softens after a few uses. Whips up a rich lather easily. First time I used it, there was a (very) faint animal smell, and slight discoloration of the soaking water, but after that I had no issues and no smell, so you may want to soak, rinse, and let your brush air dry once before use. The wood is beautiful and it's a pleasure to use.
