Horrible Rubber Taste
This has a horrible rubber taste to it. I love my Nalgene because it is completely tasteless - nothing but fresh water. This splashguard completely defeats the purpose of that.Even after washing it several times it still retains that rubber taste.Waste of money.

Good, but not great. Kinda stinky too!
I got one of these and have had it now about a year. I loved it for the first part of this year as it is really good for not spilling water all over myself. However, the downsides make it not worth it. I want something that is going to last a long time so I don't have to keep replacing it.As other people have written it does falls to the bottom, though that wasn't a problem for me as I was careful not to let this happen. It did happen every once in a while, which was annoying because if you drop the bottle, that's a problem. The major thing that is bothering me now though at almost a year later is, since it's rubber and porous, it gets stinky fast! My water ends up smelly like a dirty sock! Also, when I've not washed it for a while, it develops mold in small spots. Not cool. I'm now looking for something else. I'm going to try the made by nalgene one and see how that one works.

Too small for 1L Nalgene
I have a 1 L Nalgene standard bottle. I wanted a splashguard for it. I relied upon the description for this posting, as you can clearly read above, here is a direct cut and paste: " Splash-free drinking for most wide-mouth reusable water bottles It is BPA free Sized for children and adults Made of food grade FDA approved silicone "Do you see that? "WIDE MOUTH reusable water bottles." Like a 1L Nalgene. It is even advertised as "universal" sizing...In any event, I got it today - and it is a MINI splashguard?? It is only about as big around as a silver dollar. Way too small. The listing should CLEARLY say it is a "mini" guard, and specifically state the specific bottles it fits. I assumed it fit the 1L Nalgene. Argh.

Better alternative to the Nalgene splash guard
I'll just first start with a caution since you probably already know what this does and that you already want one. The only problem that I have had with this is that the silicon does seem to take on some color depending on what you are drinking. I sometimes drink sports drinks from a powder mix and it stains them a light pink color that I can't get off with hand-washing. I haven't thrown it in the dishwasher yet, but that might do the trick. Also, the picture on Amazon for the "Clean Air" color appears to be a light blue, but mine actually is an opaque white. Now on to the good stuff. The only problem with the standard wide-mouth 32oz Nalgene bottles is that it is sometimes tough to get a controlled flow of liquid when your on the move especially when you fill your bottle with ice cubes. This splash guard really solves that problem with a rather elegant simple solution. It takes a slightly different approach to the problem than the Nalgene brand sipper. The guard itself is a soft food-grade (I hope) silicon that basically press-fits into the mouth of the bottle. It fits snugly and I feel very confident that it is not going to slip out, unlike the actual Nalgene brand sippers which are a harder plastic and sit a little more loosely. It also has a crescent shaped groove that mates well with your upper lip and vents on the opposite side. The Nalgene sipper uses a triangular opening which doesn't touch your mouth at all so it doesn't really "seal" and leaves a little backwash (ewe!) on the lid. Not a huge difference, but the nod goes to the Guyo - just be careful when you choose the color. Darker would probably be a better choice!

Must have if you drink anything besides water
I have used Camelbak's with the sippy thing for years, for water, protein and electrolyte drinks - and have never felt like I was quite able to get them clean. When I started looking for new water bottles, and checked out the Nalgene's, I saw the reference for this little gem. I bought a 32oz Nalgene bottle and the "Clear Sky" color of this. It's a little darker than the color in the picture - it looks translucent on the website but really isn't. It fits the 32oz Nalgene quite well - sure, if you push hard enough, it'll fall into the bottle; I just put my palm flat across the top to seat it securely but not too far into the bottle. Then I realized I don't really like the Nalgene bottle because it's a little to big a diameter for my hands to comfortably grasp, and it doesn't fit in my car's drink holder - so I tried it in my 32oz and .75L Camelbak bottles - and sure enough, it fits perfectly well into both those sizes. I ended up buying three more for my Camelbak's - the pink, blue snowflake, and black. Oddly I like the black one the best - something about the presence of the other ones is mildly offputting, and I like that the black one seems to "disappear" into the bottle, so all i have to do is drink. I have noticed no problem with leaking, and I can drink out of it as fast or slowly as I like. Also, though at first I thought couldn't walk & drink like I can with the camelbak sippy thing, I've found that now that I'm used to the shape of these, I have no problem drinking on the move. This is really just an amazing product, and it is so vastly easier to keep my bottles clean.

The black one smells, the pink one doesnt.
We bought two of these, one black jolly roger and one pink butterfly. The black one started off smelling rubbery and eventually took on the smell of mildew after filling the bottle from someones refrigerator door. Last week it took on the smell of manure after adding some NOW electrolyte powder to my water. I thoroughly wash the bottle, cap and sippy every night. The manure smell is gone but the mildew smell remains. My wife does not have this problem with the pink butterfly sippy.Oh yeah we have had a yellow smiley face for years that doesnt smell either. And the black one is made of a different material.
