Asterix and The Missing Scroll

I've been a fan of these comics from the States ever since I was a kid. The artwork is aesthetic, the humor is relatable and the stories are engaging, even with so many similar elements from book to book. Surprisingly complex and taught me a lot about ancient history when I was growing up. Once you're hooked, you'll never tire of watching the Gauls beat the Romans up time and again. May these grand adventures never come to an end!

So I have been a lifelong fan of Asterix. Anyone who is, cannot but buy one. So I did. The drawing, the detail, the evocativeness of the Gaul province, Romans and all the beloved characters is still the same as ever. The story (and strangely the dialogues/translation) is not as spiffy as ever though. Still, a good addition to my collection.

Its been years since I read a new book and as with time, things slip my mind until I came across this during the feverish Black Friday scrolling! lol. I enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed all of the previous books. Someone one does not outgrown them! Delivery super fast so kudos to the seller on this!

As usual, another fun adventure for the main characters: Asterix and Obelix (with Dogmatix). As the title states, the story is centered around a scroll that concerns the undefeated Gaulish village that Asterix and Obelix live in, that Julius Caeser wants destroyed. Like the preceding books before (and hopefully after), there is plenty of jokes (some punny and some quite discrete), roman soldier bashing, and always a feast (for the Gauls) celebrating their victory once again!

This is a new approach, more word play, the digital era and a bit of social media the focus. Soft on old Julius. Pirates play a very small part, taking into account the relevance in the modern era. Good - Would be good if more Asterix were available on Kindle store and also if they were available in the original version (French) - I would buy the whole collection.

Finally, the source of Asterix adventures have been revealed. It was worth the wait despite the efforts of the censors

Always great. My father and I have been collecting Asterix since the ‘70s when we lived in Europe. Art work is beautiful and the stories are fun and educational
