Will this work in serial with a mini dp (not thunderbolt) to vga/hdmi/dvi adaptor to connect to a vga monitor?

it works with my one, seems that I've got similar configuration.

Hi there, i want to use this so i can use my old surface pro adaptors on my new usb c laptop. will it work for that?

Unsure what the question is. What I am sure is that this is a Thunderbolt to screen. It does not work backwards compatibility. If it makes sense. For example this will work with iPad and such as well as with the MacBook Pro Thunderbolt ports.
