Q: Is this good for weighing parcels

I think you could weigh a small parcel on it.

Q: how long before they shut off. Quite often I add an ingredient then realize I've forgotten to get something out. My previous ones shut off so quickly

I think it is something like 30-60 seconds, never timed it. But most times I have forgotten something it has still been on when I get back PLUS, if you know where you are with your ingredients just pressed the reset button, so that your bowl and all its contents weigh 0, you can then continue adding ingredients from that point.

Q: I purchased these scales last july but the backlight has just failed. the packaging says they have a lifetime warranty. how do i exchange them please?

Have you checked the battery perhaps it needs replacing.

Q: Is this the large or small one? I see it says there are two sizes but cant see that I am ordering the large one?

The scales is approx 8" x 6". Very compact but a great scales.
