Close to perfect replacement
Super easy. Swapped out my old one that had a broken foot lock. This one has teeth on the piston part inside so I do hear it making noise when it slides open and closed. Not a big fan of the way that's designed. My previous one didn't have teeth, just a smooth cylinder and didn't make the clicky noise. I adjusted the tension out as far as I could and still hear it. Besides that it was a perfect fit and cheaper here than buying it locally.

Very Pleased, Read the instructions for adjustments.
This installed relatively easy, although I had to drill holes because the bracket is different than my old bracket. Initially, the door slammed, causing me to have to read the directions, which were clear. Once I actually followed instructions, I got it so that it closes reasonably (and there is a very fine and easy adjustment screw to make adjustments) and using the recommended bracket hole, it even closes very gently but firmly.I love the easy lock open compared to the old doohicky I had to slide on the piston.Note that they have two models, heavy and light duty, and you should select based on your door weight.

Easy Replacement - But Unit Failed
I have a substantial security "screen" security door (heavy metal frame, perforated plate screen, and a design panel) which I had installed about 10 years ago. It came with a hold open closer which was failing (popping, cracking on close; not closing as well as it did). Of the several choices offered, I took a chance on the cheapest one. It was a direct replacement for the one I had - just needed to pull the two end pins, take the old one out, put this new one in, replace the pins, and adjust the closing screw on the end, done. After taking this easy route, I did elect to change the door jamb bracket but the new bracket used the same holes so just remove the screws, swap the bracket, replace the screws. Nice when a 5 minute job really does take about 5 minutes. It has been in place for several weeks and so far so good. Hope it lasts 10 years like the one it replaced.Update 13OCT19: Downgraded to one star. Would have downgraded to 0 if I could. Unit failed TWO days after the return window closed. Amazon Customer Service was nice enough to give me a "store" credit for part of the cost of this closer but really frosts my cookies to have the thing fail. How did it fail? Opened the door to the max allowed by this closer - maybe 75 or 80 degrees (you can never get to 90 unless you take any closer off - my experience anyway) - and when I went to release by pushing the door further open, the closer was locked. Could not open the door that last 1/2 inch to allow the closer to disengage. This particular closer has notches on the rod (much like an old time bumper jack or some jack stands) rather like a smooth rod like the one it replaced and the one I replaced this one with.

Keep open feature is faulty, not a smooth consistent closure.
The feature to keep it in the open position is extremely hard to use if placing the strut on the top of the security screen. Also the close is not smooth and even, super fast the first 80% and then catches at the last minute and claws nice and slow. I tried adjusting it and it can’t seem to find a happy medium to where it closes smoothly but also fully. Will not be buying this brand again.

Has worked wonderfully
Works wonderfully with new storm dor. Much better thattheone that came with the door.Seems "stiffer" helping provide more resistance & keeping door closed on windy days.Appears& feels very durable.Easy install & Great value!

product works so far and it's been a couple weeks
I have went through a few of other door closing devices trying to find the one that actually works as it is stated. I installed this one, it's a little different from the normal screw holes and I had to drill new ones. It was a little complicated to install in terms of getting the placement correctly, in terms of the actual assembly was super simple. It's a little expensive but it looks like it's going to last a while.
