No such thing as buyer's remorse to be found here!
I preordered this, having been a fan of Lauren's writing for a while, and on the back of reading (and loving) her previous book. I ripped my way hungrily through this book in less than 48 hours, which is testament to just how much of a joy this was to read (and also possibly indicative of my greedy consumerist habits..but hey, that's why I bought it in the first place, right?). Lauren manages to take a colossal and at times overwhelming topic, and discuss it in a way that feels warm and inviting. She doesn't pretend to have any of the answers, and certainly doesn't place any guilt or expectation on the reader. After reading this book, I was left feeling as though I could and would be able to make a difference, by way of small changes, and it forced me to examine my own behaviours. As a young woman who has come of age within the era that fast fashion exploded, and as a person who has always loved clothes and fashion, I could relate to much of this book. I have found myself fatigued by the climate I live in, and increasingly desperate to find another way (for my own personal sake as much as our world's). Trying to live more sustainably in our modern climate can sometimes feel impossible, but this book shows that we can all try to do a little more, and that it's wholly possible to do so whilst retaining our sense of humour, and without accusing others of not doing enough. Bravo, Lauren!

excellent without being judgmental or smug
I buy a LOT of clothes and love fashion and at the back of my mind knew I should be thinking about the ethics of this more. this book was really straightforward and an enjoyable read whilst getting its message across. I haven't bought any clothes since and aim not to until end of March. For a long time I'd been aware that Zara's adn Oliver Bonas clothes fell apart and actually arent that cheap so if you can it is worth spending more on something nice that lasts for a loing time. Once you assess the impact of some of the companies (Boden was a shock though I dont shop there) it is hard to buy from them. I will see how I am getting on end of March and think about whether I want to continue and also buy more second hand and ethical clothes. Some of the ethical ranges that are referred to are very expensive but some are not bad .

An interesting and entertaining read that made me rethink my relationship with fashion
Informative without being preachy, light-hearted without being flippant, Lauren has managed the delicate balance of offering practical tips on how to ditch fast fashion while still writing an entertaining book.I bought and read this last January and it gave me plenty of food for thought about how and why I buy clothes. I've come back to it a lot since and it made me rethink my relationship with fashion - so much so that this year I've vowed to follow Lauren and go a year without buying clothes.I would recommend to anyone looking to rethink their shopping habits, but it's also an interesting read if you're interested in clothes and the fashion industry more generally.

A call to action for anyone who loves to shop
I was fully prepared to read this and come out feeling like a terrible person but that wasn't the case at all. There was no guilt trip or self loathing but I did end up feeling encouraged to change my habits. Lauren doesn't hide the stark statistics or rose tint the problems but she does provide many suggestions for how we can all do our bit to help. There are options for everyone from baby steps to giant leaps and it doesn't once feel condescending or judgemental. It's a handy, solutions-focused guide made all the more wonderful by Lauren's trademark humour.

A Must Read
Lauren gave up shopping for a year and has written this great book about her experience. Along with her experience, she also discusses shocking facts, collects advice from activists and academics as well as discussing ways to care for the clothes you already have. She writes about the past and future of the industry in a way that is easy to digest and understand.I will be recommending this book to all as it's not only a relatable read but it is also an essential read in this current fast fashion climate.

Spectacular - best book on sustainable fashion.
Like Lauren, I’m trying to complete a year without buying any RTW clothes. I downloaded the book and demolished in two nights it’s that engaging and readable. Lauren’s writing style is informative but fun, so it feels like a conversation with one of your mates. But she doesn’t shy away from the problems with the fashion industry. When I read it there were also plenty of laugh out loud moments. If you want a read that’s both parts educational and funny about giving up fashion this is the book for you!

I highly recommend. It should be a must-read to everyone.
Absolutely loove this book. I especially love Lauren's tone of voice and writing style. Reading this boom feels like I am having a discussion with a friend. It absolutely perfect for beginners who wanna know why the fast fashion industry is so unethical and unsustainable and want some tipsbare tricks in how to start shifting towards slow fashion. Highly highly recommend this book. Lauren's voice might not be everyone's cup of tea but it is so informative as well as entertaining to read.
