Air out cushion before using
I have owned this cushion for about one year. I bought it to add extra cushion for an office chair that was losing support. It is, by far, the best seat cushion I have used. It is well constructed and truly supports where other, cheaper cushions collapse. Purple is well worth the money and I even bought a thinner version for my dining room chair. I think this would be a tremendous product for wheelchair users or those who have had an injury.Things to know: when first opened, the plastic has a strong odor. I set the cushion in my garage until the odor was gone. This is a HEAVY cushion so not one that you would use as a portable. It is three inches thick and raises your feet off the ground, so I use a small, low foot stool for proper alignment. This is a great product. You get what you pay for.

Actually relieves pressure—way more than memory foam ever did
The media could not be loaded. I’ve tried a bunch of seat cushions over the years—from cheap gel pads to overpriced memory foam—and none of them did what this Purple one does. The grid design actually distributes pressure instead of just flattening out like a sponge. I use this on a basic desk chair and sometimes even bring it to work or long drives. Within 15 minutes, I could feel how much less pressure there was on my tailbone and thighs. It’s not squishy in a fake way either—it has bounce but keeps support.Heat doesn’t build up like it does with foam, which is great if you sit for hours. The material feels weird at first (like jellyfish meets waffle) but you get used to it quickly, and now regular cushions just feel wrong. It’s not compact or discreet, but I’d rather have comfort than pretend a brick of foam is doing anything. If you’re someone with back issues, WFH for long stretches, or just tired of ass pain mid-Zoom call, this cushion actually delivers. Not hype. Real difference.

USED FOR 2 YEARS
***Not compensated in any way for this review***Purchased August 2023 (2 years prior to review)This cushion is an absolute game changer! I spend long straight hours sitting in a chair because I play poker for a living. After a few hours things start to get uncomfortable especially with rink dink cheap chairs. With this product it is never an issue. Has not flattened or lost it's shape that I can tell. I did rotate it ever so often. I've never sat on a cloud before, but I couldn't imagine that feeling better than thisPROS-Most comfort you could imagineMaintained shape and firmness after multi years of useCONS-It is very heavy, but most people won't be packing it around like meThe cost is a bit much

Worth buying the real thing, very pleased with the quality and comfort
I don't spend money just for the sake of spending money, but I think this is one of the products that's worth buying the name brand. Several months ago, I tried a knockoff of the same type of cushion (grid, etc.) that was about 1/3 of the cost and the entire month I had it I was debating whether or not it made enough of a difference to justify keeping (I returned it). With this one from Purple, as soon as I sat on it the first time, I knew I'd keep it and still feel the same way about it after using it a while.I deducted half a star because I think it's somewhat overpriced, even with buying it on sale. I deducted another half star because it doesn't stay in place quite as well as I would like, especially considering the price. It stays in place moderately well, and it would probably do a bit better on some chairs than the one I have, though I can imagine it doing worse on some other chairs too, but I still have to slightly reposition the cushion every time I sit down if I need or want it to be in the "right" place.I've now been using this cushion for a month - long enough to feel qualified to say it has significantly improved my ability to sit and work at my computer for extended periods, but I haven't owned it long enough to offer insight into the longevity. It feels like it'll last a while, but only time will tell. I've also been using the cushion exclusively at my desk, but when I'm able to get back out on the road for some long trips in my van, I'm looking forward to using it there too. If it was cheaper, I'd probably buy a second one to keep one in the van and one at my desk. With my specific issues, on a good day, I used to be able to sit at my computer for up to maybe two or three hours total before the pain would be bad enough that I had to be done for the day, but with using this cushion I can go about three times as long. Sitting at my desk for sometimes several hours at a time, I don't know how to gauge the cooling effect, but I certainly don't get a hot butt.I had considered the next step down from this model, the "Office Chair Upgrade", but based on my experience with the other cushion I tried, I knew I wanted one that was big enough to cover the entire seat of my chair and that first one wasn't big enough. When I got the that one, I didn't think it would make as much of a difference as it does for me to have the cushion cover the full seat. The "Ultimate" is big enough to cover the seat side to side on my office chair and only falls a little short at the front edge, which is fine for me. Since my chair has a contoured seat already, I might have preferred a completely flat cushion, but not at the expense of size. For those who haven't tried cushions like this before, it's worth mentioning how it's going to affect the seat height and how that extra height could end up being positive, neutral, or negative. When I tried the knockoff, I wasn't thinking about how much it would change the seat height and it was a little surprising. But, I'm also a bit of a stickler when it comes to ergonomics, especially with some of the physical issues I have. Someone who doesn't need things to be as dialed in will be less affected. At my desk, I think the added height is an overall slight net positive: I'm tall enough to compensate for the cushion by adjusting my seat height without bottoming it out and since the armrests on my chair aren't adjustable, it slightly improves that for me so I'm using better posture and arm position for typing. For someone shorter, it could be the case they'd need to plan on a footrest or something to maintain proper ergonomics. In my van, though I haven't used it there yet, I expect it's going to be a solid positive because, while I'm tall enough that I'm not bottoming out my office chair even after adjusting it to compensate for the cushion, I'm short enough that the seat in my van (Ford E350) isn't comfortable for me for long trips since it isn't adjustable. This will give me the extra seat height there that I want there.
