What to Expect When You're Expecting: (Updated in 2025)

I read What to Expect When You're Expecting when I was pregnant, and it was an invaluable resource throughout my entire pregnancy. The book covers everything from the early days to delivery, and it’s filled with helpful advice, tips, and reassurance.Now that my daughter is expecting, I bought a newer version for her, and she’s been loving it just as much as I did. It’s comforting to have such a trusted guide during such an exciting (and sometimes overwhelming) time. Highly recommend it to any expecting parent!

Very informative for a first time pregnancy. Would definitely recommend.

This is the go-to book for pregnant moms showing you clearly how the baby develops and how your body changes month by month. I recommend buying this if you are trying to get pregnant with your first child. You don't know you are pregnant right away so you'll have this on hand when you find out you are. May daughter and her husband had fertility issues also. A nice nurse recommended the book, It Starts with an Egg to provide information on that issue.

I was very uneasy looking at how much there was to read but it wasnt as bad as I thought.Not only is it an easy read its a very informative one.The book breaks everything down well and gives sources.Its a great book for anyone especially first time pregnancy.

In "Chapter 2: Your Pregnancy Profile" some sections are alarmingly off base; some information is incorrect, other information is outdated, and the rest I have to wonder why Murkoff bothered including if she wasn't going to do her research or bring in other experts. It makes me question the validity of the rest of the book.I started the book at Part 2 (Chapter 5) and there's helpful information there. But then I flipped back to Part 1 and encountered the problem mentioned above. It is my hope that Part 2 is reliable and is filled with information the author is knowledgeable about; and perhaps Part 1 is where the author is trying to make the book applicable to more pregnancies with the new 2024 edition. But I just have to wonder why the author would damage her credibility by including sections that she obviously knows nothing about.UPDATE! I'm now reading about the Second Trimester and some advice is EXTREMELY DETRIMENTAL. For example the Body Image section tells women that men find them more desirable with a baby belly and that if a woman is really concerned she should just stop eating ice cream.

I’ve sent four of these books to pregnant friends and they love them! It’s the same book I read in the 90’s with significant updates added in 2024.The book answers so many questions, many you’d never know about otherwise!

I read this book when I had my girls and now that my daughter is expecting I ordered it for her. This book has answered all of her questions. It is an amazing quality for the money and us extremely informative.. I highly recommend this book to any expecting mother!
