Viking Cylinders 17 lb Composite LP Tank - Black

I had no trouble filling this Viking cylinder up at my local propane store. At first they seemed wary and hesitant because they had never seen one before but as soon as i showed them the viking website and all those awards this tank has, the propane guys were more than happy to fill it. In fact one of the guys bought one right then and there after seeing the details of the these tanks.Pros:-lighter than other tanks even when full.-the smooth rounded bottom wont wear and tear whatever you set the tank on.-wont rust-wont explode-easy to carry-it might be less of a target to get stolen because it looks so different from what people expect a propane tank to look like.Cons:-it did not come with a little safety cap to plug into the open end of the filler hole when being transported after filling. Luckly my propain people gave me one for free. They commented however that for $100 the company really ought to have provided such a standard safety feature.-all those little decorative holes in the outer casing look like an inviting bug and spider condominium with a big for rent sign on it. Im gonna find a bag or cover to keep the tank in, so it looks less inviting as a bug house.

I've refilled this tank twice this summer and both times re-filling people expect to see the typical, heavy, tank. "I've never seen a tank like this" was the last quote recently. Much lighter in weight, make these great for older people or for tailgating, construction, food trucks, or camping or marine applications. I love the ability to visibly see the propane level. People are amazed when they see the tank. Even full it's far lighter weight. It comes in a variety of colors.-David Allen

Tank has to be re-certified every 5 yeas from manufacture Date. I just got mine Jun 9/2017 The tank is already 14 months old. I filled it at AmeriGas and when I asked them if they would certify it they said no. So Viking....Please provide the re-certification service centers that will certify you expensive tank!

They are black (like advertised) and were manufactured on 11/16 ( 2 years 3 months ago). I could have bough ones made on 11/17 directly from the manufacturer for $139 (plus shipping) but chose to go this route as it suits our schedule. It is an amazingly good deal on a great tank. Viking has an extensive list of places that re-certify these on their website.

I purchased these Viking cylinders for use on a boat and I have not been disappointed after six months of them being on board, and in place. They are slightly lighter to handle than the traditional cylinder but most importantly they do not corrode or in any way react in a salt environment. A bit more expensive than traditional cylinders but well worth the money. In fact I would recommend them for any outside environment.

This is a great product. Although, the ad says it is blue, it was delivered in black as in the picture. UHaul would not fill it, so we had to find another place...

Bought a couple of these when our steel tanks started rusting again. We love how light these tanks are and the ergonomic handle is far more comfortable than steel. Feels like half the weight of steel. The 17-lb size fits in our RV's propane hatch perfectly. We have had the tanks filled easily at Big R stores, Tractor Supply Company, Ace Hardware, etc. It's convenient to see the liquid propane level through the tank so you can tell when its time to refill. Will buy more soon.

Great cylinder! Very light weight and most importantly I can always see the level of remaining LPG. No need to weight it up or guesstimate how much gas left.
