I have always been skeptical about using flash cards with very young children. Words can be learned so much easier through conversation, shared reading and exploring the environment. However, as the parent of a developmentally disabled child I have seen first hand that flash cards can help those kids with speech and cognitive delays, enabling them to push past language barriers through play with cards. Playing with cards and not drilling with them can also improve fine motor skills and reinforce the idea that concepts can be learned through play. This comprehensive card set has a lot to offer anyone searching for something that can combine play with early concept learning.This set features a sturdy box that holds all the cards with ease, making organization a snap. The Alphabet set features two complete sets, one for capital letters and one for lowercase. The cards are printed on each side and include an illustration and a word beginning with the letter along with the letter itself. I like that this set breaks the two apart, enabling kids to play match games with lower and uppercase.The first words set features a nice assortment of kid friendly words like cow, ball, ring and sheep, just to name a few. The cards feature an image and word on one side and the word alone on the other.Colors and shapes offers a complete set of six shapes per color and a total of ten colors. These cards are also printed on both sides. This set features a crucial flaw in that the color set for Blue features a color that is purple. The Blue color will not be able to be used for anyone working with a child for color learning.The number set is a standout in this collection as it provides lots of opportunities for game play. One side of each card features a quantity of objects, then the back shows the numeral. There's also a set that features a quantity on one side and the number word on the other.The phonics card set is informative and comprehensive, but offers the fewest play opportunities for the youngest children. Those with speech and reading delays will find these useful as they encompass all letter sounds and many blends.The animal kingdom set are all printed on each side, and feature an illustration, the name of the animal and the statement "What noise does this animal make or/and act like this animal?" I found it odd that this statement is featured on each and every card and wish they would have included an animal fact instead. It's with these cards that this collection's major flaw can be seen most easily. The images are not unique or consistent. They range from realistic to cartoon renditions of animals and objects, with no seeming rhyme or reason. It made me wonder if these were the results of random google clip art searches. The image problem really detracts from the value of the animal set, although the youngest kids will no doubt still enjoy them.Even though this comprehensive set of flash cards is not without its flaws, I still like them for anyone looking for learning opportunities to share with their child. Game ideas are included for many of these sets, and as long as parents emphasize the play in flash card use I know they can be valuable tools. The cards are very sturdy and are obviously made of higher quality stock than most cards you find at your local department store. Toddlers and Preschoolers will enjoy manipulating this set, matching and learning these concepts.

I purchased these cards because I have a soon to be 2 year old daughter who would plays rough, so I wanted something a product that would last and could withstand her destructive nature. When I found these cards I thought they would be perfect because the product description claims that they have, "LONGLASTING DURABILITY WITH 400gsm PAPER QUALITY- No Rip & Tear, No Bending, Your Baby Can Play Forever. The Cards Are Highly Waterproof & Thick (1000 microns=1mm)." I was excited to get them and test them out. The first card I showed my daughter, she reached for it and then ripped it. The second, she bent. Needless to say the claim of, "No Rip & Tear, No Bending" is false. I'm giving them 2 stars because in essence the cards are nice and plentiful for the price, but they are not as durable as they claim to be!

I got these as a gift for my nephew, I am big on learning anything you can as soon as you can. I am one of those people who watch a video and boom I can fix my own car. My 5 yr old is learning multiplication tables now, I know it will make school easier for her.I love these cards, there's such a variety of subjects in the same set. They have shapes, colors, numbers, animals and more. The box they come in is nice and thick, a box that serves well not just as the box they arrive in but it will stand up to use (I've had issues with the boxes falling apart on stuff before so this is a plus).I think some of the cards could use a more vibrant feel even though they serve the intended purpose, kids are attracted and more apt to continue learning if the cards are shiny and bright. Some are very pretty while others are a little dull looking.I received the product at a discount for my honest review. This is one of the most complete sets of flash cards for smaller children that I have seen. Instead of buying 5 or 6 sets you just need this one. I am pretty happy overall with this product and I am sure it will be used by more than one child.The missing star is because some are dull, and they can be tricky to get out of the box, maybe a different box design would be better like the sides of the box being lower than the top of the cards.

The cards are absolutely beautiful. The colors are bright and the cards have s good thickness. The clip art is also wonderful. My kids love these cards.My only complaints are that they are hard to get out of the box without having to take out all of the cards. So when my kids want to play with them, I have to help pull them out which is even a challenge for me to not get out the other cards we don't need. Also wish the alphabet cards had the upper and lower case on one card instead of having a seperate card for each upper and lower case.
