Is this dotted or a grid?

They are dots that form a grid. They are not lines that form a grid.

Is this ruled or dotted? The item is listed as ruled by comments say otherwise, i need a ruled book.

You can choose if you want ruled, dotted, grid or plain paper. So yes they are ruled if you choose that option.

Are the dots black? If they are, is there a hardcover Moleskine with dots that are more subtle?

The dots are a muted black - maybe a dark grey. I am not sure about a hardcover option.

The photo shows gridded inside paper but the description in product says plain pages- is this notebook blank/plain pages?

Hi! yes it is plain, very soft to draw/write in.
