One of the best IPS panels in 2021
This is my first IPS panel, and this perspective will be written from that point of view.Firstly this is an excellent 2560x1440 170Hz monitor for most occasions, and is one of the best reviewed monitors as of 2021, according to the Rtings website. The colors are great and noticeably better to my eyes using sRGB mode. In fact I bought this monitor with an emphasis of close calibration out of the box, and this is one of very few monitors with close out-of-box color calibration. However I do not have any monitor calibration device to test mine with, so this is subjective. For gaming, 170Hz looks great and is absolutely fantastic. Everything is so smooth, from the mouse on the desktop, to in-game action. However in very dark scenes, this monitor exhibits its own glow, perhaps called "backlight bleed" that looks like the monitor is reflecting off of itself. The contrast ratio is not high enough either, in my opinion, for very dark scenes. The brightness is fine. There are some complaints online that it's not bright enough, but I'm not sure how that can be, unless living on the surface of the sun. There is a firmware update for this monitor, but this brightness opinion was formed from before I applied it. After applying it, there is a "max brightness" setting that I'm not going to try as it's plenty bright as is. I did not notice any differences in picture quality after the update. In the "grey uniformity" category, which measures the uniformity of brightness across the screen, my monitor has a noticeable vignette around the edges going to about 1.5in inward on all sides. It might be less than 10% difference, maybe around 5%. I've gotten used to it. The screen surface is matte, but on the shinier side compared to others I've seen. I'd like a more matte(er) screen, however it's not bad. There is a noticeable "pixel walk" issue when viewing moving objects, when the monitor is cold, in a 70-71 degree Fahrenheit room. It goes away in about 30 minutes of using the monitor, as it warms up, or if the room is warmer.Overall this is a great monitor. Other IPS monitors have the same issues I've mentioned but to a worse degree most of the time, according to professional reviewers. There is a similar model but with 240Hz refresh rate, model XV272U Xbmiipruzx, however it is much more expensive at around $700.I only upgrade monitors every 4 years at the soonest, as that's how long it seems to take for monitor technology to advance enough. Every model of monitor, and each one manufactured on a product line has its own quirks, and will be slightly different. Also if you want to update the firmware, connect the provided USB cable to your computer and to the monitor's back port, and download then apply the update from Acer's Product Support site. Be sure to find the *exact* product model, as typing it correctly is not easy as there are so many letters in the name. Also the update takes about 10+ minutes to upload to the monitor, and the monitor will restart. As with any firmware update, follow the instructions closely. I have my computer and monitor plugged into a UPS unit so no power fluctuations would interfere or possibly "brick" the monitor.

I love this monitor
I spent a lot of time going back and forth between monitor reviews before deciding on this one.I'm coming from an Acer Predator XB217HU at 2k, and this monitor is dramatically better. The color accuracy is great, and they give you a sheet telling you what the color accuracy results from calibration were. The blacks are very dark on this, which I love. The best the Predator was able to do was a warm gray, so this is a nice change.HDR400 is neat, but I wouldn't buy it for that reason. HDR400 is barely HDR, it's not bright enough. It is nice to have it included though, and I didn't use that as a factor in my decision to buy this.Great for games and photo/design work. I can't recommend this enough. One suggestion I do have is to go into the options menu and turn off the artificial sharpening right away. It doesn't look good, and you don't need it.

hideous
Hideous color balance. The high framerate is nice, but if you need this for even a smidge of color accuracy it's a dud. HDR mode is also super dim, making it unusable. Assembly was at least very easy.

So far a very good monitor with excellent response times.
I have had this monitor for just under a month so far and I am loving the refresh rate and response time. I originally had a 12 year old viewsonic TN panel, and switching to an IPS panel is night and day. The colors are great and while I don't have the tools to test color accuracy, nothing pops out as wrong. The backlight bleed is very mild for my set but I know that can vary between units. No dead pixels yet but I will update my review if any were to pop up.The only downside I can even think of is that the monitor stand is very wobbly but that can be easily fixed with a vesa mount. The UI is very easy to use and so far have not had any issues with it.The only weird thing I noticed is that the monitor says it "overclocks" to 170 Hertz on the box but no where in the software does it have an overclock mode, it is just at 170 Hertz by default.Overall I would highly recommend this monitor, especially coming from a 1080P TN panel it is insane how much clearer and smooth the picture is.I will update this review with any negative that apear over time but as of right now I have basically none.

Want a monitor you can just order, unbox, and use? Look somewhere else.
When I first saw this monitor, I was really impressed. Cheaper than a lot of comparable monitors, great specs, the whole shebang. I was super impressed when the first thing that came out of the box was a sheet displaying the factory color calibration, such a nice touch. However, once I actually started USING the monitor (you know, the thing you're supposed to do with a product) everything went downhill. The first monitor I received had multiple dead pixels show up dead center in the middle of the screen after less than 24 hours, making it unbearable to use for almost any task. Therefore, I requested a replacement. After receiving the replacement, less than 3 hours after powering it on for the first time, the screen started to flash random subpixels on and off unless I set the refresh rate all the way down to 120hz. Personally, I'm not willing to accept that cut in performance for a 300+dollar monitor, but now Amazon refuses to return or replace this second monitor. How is it so hard to do any kind of QC at factory? This is absolutely unacceptable to first provide multiple defective units then refuse to take them back. I was really impressed at first with Acer but now I don't believe that I can purchase any of their items anymore in good conscience, and I HIGHLY recommend that anyone else looking for this monitor look elsewhere, as that's what I'm going to have to do now. I've heard the MSI MAG274qrf-qd and LG27GP850 might be good options.
