Perfect!
I bought this book for a 13 year old who’s behind grade level in reading and hopes to become a lawyer. I was hoping this would help them get excited about reading. A couple of comments:1. What some people are calling “too woke,” I call “realistic understanding of the world.” The legal system isn’t equal or fair for everyone, and recognizing that isn’t “too woke.” I was giving this book to a child of color, so I especially appreciated that this book was recognizing the system follies.2. I didn’t realize before buying the book that it’s made in UK and thus slightly more oriented to the UK. That said, it overall does takes a relatively global/universal scope so it’s not too bad- just something to keep in mind if gifting to an American. I made sure I provided the context for the child I gave the book to.

Less About the Legal System, More About Social Justice
I was looking for an introduction to law for my 8 year old son who recently decided he wants to be a lawyer. "Law for Beginners" sounded like just the book I was looking for - because, let's be honest, books for this age group tend to focus on more popular career paths like fireman, doctor, veterinarian and pilot.Unfortunately, this book spends very little time explaining the judicial system and the roles within it. (24 out of 128 pages) The remainder of the book focuses on popular social justice causes from a very one-sided perspective. This is definitely not a book for everyone, only those with select political leanings will appreciate the views it promotes.

Too woke
I was really excited about giving this book to my 11 year old but it is definitely “woke” and leaning heavily towards one side. We will be returning it.

A law book that talks heavily about social justice
Returning this.

Leftist Ideology and not law
I was looking to introduce my kiddo to the law and this seemed like the perfect book (kid friendly, comic strips). Instead it was an introduction to leftist ideas and not an introduction to law at all.

Not the proper presentation for kids
Not the proper presentation for kids. I think the age appropriate way is to teach them the laws as written and the actual processes. This starts out describing bias immediately. Doesn’t seem inspiring.
