My MacBook is not recognizing this unit (the uno piece), has anyone else experienced this?

Which Uno? I have the Mega and Uno3 working normally, the Nano is another different matter all together and that has not bee something I can use. Despite that the Mega and UnoR3 have worked without issue. You do need to install a driver for them. Did you read the PDF supplied on the USB drive inside the kit????? Getting started: INSTALL DRIVER: Go to https://sparks.gogo.co.nz/ch340.html and download the CH340G driver. This driver is required for your clone Nano, Uno and Mega boards to interface with the official Arduino IDE. Next, download the Arduino IDE, this is where you write all the code for your Monster:

Dose this come with instructions for projects that can be made with the parts? or do you have to come up with your own things to make?

Hi, great question! The kit comes with tutorials (mini projects and instructions) to learn how to work all the parts plus links to websites and Youtube videos as well. There is a lot of information that can be found online easily and you will not run out of ideas should you decide to come up with your own projects.

Is this Arduino kit safe to take on Scandanavian airlines? Also, is anything flammable, corrosive, radioactive.

Should be totally safe. Nothing toxic or flammable. Worst thing it Might have is a watch/hearing aid battery - totally fine on airlines.
