These are great for nice floors or carpets. They make a difference for medium sized planters. Instead of putting them directly on the floor, they add some elegance to your setup. Unfortunately they wont elevate a small planter quite enough but I'm still glad I got them. Wish they were just a teeny bit higher!

I purchased this item a few weeks ago for displaying plants in my dining room. I placed a money tree which I have had for several months on this stand. The money tree is in a ceramic pot with drainage tray. This week, when I went to check on the plant, I noticed a crack in the plant stand. When I lifted the plant up, I was horrified to see that the stand was rotting -- covered in mold, with several small bugs crawling out of the wood. I immediately contacted Areaware, and they responded that the product cannot get wet (and as such, they cannot replace it). This product is actively marketed as a live plant stand (with product photos even showing the plant stands being used outdoors); it is unreasonable to expect that a live plant stand would never come in contact with water. As this piece was kept indoors, and as I was using a drainage tray, the stand likely came in contact with a minimal amount of water. (It was never placed outside or subject to rain/the elements.) This piece is aesthetically beautiful, and I am a genuine fan of Areaware's designs; however, I was extremely disappointed with their misleading marketing and poor customer service. If you choose to purchase this set of stands because of the design, make sure to not use them with live plants (faux plants or other non-live decorative objects only).
