Works well
Product arrived on time and in a small package. Connection was simple. Connected a Mico dvd player to a new Samsung smart tv and used the usb socket on the tv to provide power to the adapter. The tv tried to connect the adapter to the smart remote for the tv but could not find it - not surprising given that the dvd player is at least 10 years old. I ignored that and set the source on the tv remote to hdmi and the picture from the dvd appeared on the screen. Picture quality and sound quality were excellent on an old dvd film that came free with a newspaper about 15 years ago. Excellent product and I have no hesitation in recommending it. Hope that it continues to perform.

Connecting cable
I had purchased a cheaper cable to connect a scart video player to TV HDMI socket. Didn't work. Decided to pay more, trusted the advert and yes, worked perfectly. Bought cheap no good. Bought this quality product. Very happy. Did what it promised. Good result. 👍 9

Very useful and does the job
So it does what it says and converts a SCART to HDMI. And this one has a power supply with it. The only thing that would have given 5 stars would be if it sent a signal to the TV that you had switched on. The SCART device does send this, and the HDMI can do this. What this means for someone who is confused by their remote as nd settings is to change the tv’s input. Not an issue for most, but I have put this on my 84 year old mothers tv and had to instruct about changing the input, and all she says is “I didn’t have to do that before “Otherwise all good and does the job to connect ld SCART devices.

Watching VHS Cassettes in 2020...
Connected the item today and now my oldish video cassette player plays tapes that I can watch on my brand new smart TV. The Converter needs a power source and the included USB to jack plug cable plugged into one of the TV's USB sockets and the little light on the Converter lit up. Very simple process. The VCR remote controls the VCR only, and the TV remote does the TV - obvious I suppose but the info may answer somebody's query. I haven't used the little 720 / 1080 switch on the converter to see what impact this has on picture quality - it was a pretty old tape I tested it on and the image quality was always average. I'll try the little switch on a commercial recording of a film later. The 5 stars I gave for picture quality may need editing I suppose but at the moment I have no reason to mark it down.

Connect old games consoles through HDMI!
While looking at new TVs I realised most didn’t come with scart/component connections anymore. And made me think how can I connect my old consoles? A quick look and found a few different options, this seemed a fair price and to be what I was looking for. And I’m pleased with the purchase! I wasn’t expecting it to be upscalled to 4K, but the picture/sound is better than I was expecting. I just plugged in the scart/hdmi and the usb power supply into one of the TVs USB ports and worked right away (after a few blows in the game cartridges and console). So if you’re looking for something to connect up you old consoles to hdmi this works brilliantly.

GREAT PRICE, EASE OF USE
Amazon review Aug 2018I am a luddite! I still like to tape shows off the tv via my set top box, since so much of the stuff is never available to buy commercially. But technology marches on, and we get left behind. Our fancy new tv has no scart socket (same problems with the Virgin V+box: for that I had to get an HDMI to Scart converter), so this little gizmo did the trick. The picture isn't great when compared with digital, but it's better than nothing. And the price is great.(For details on how to circumvent the new technology see the Virgin community website, where it is discussed and resolved at length. I should imagine the Sky box problems can be similarly sorted). I am no techie, I had help. Richer Sounds Watford were brilliant. With gizmo's like this, we can at least keep the wolves at bay a little longer.

Meh
Used this to connect my Hitachi, Scart freeview recorder to an EzRecorder,... Picture was poor and juddered when video moved from side to side or up and down,.. There was a constant 'Sine wave Hum' all through the audio of the Videos I managed to copy after a poor fashion,.. Removed the HDMI from this product to play out through a straight HDMI Freeview box and the signal was fine. Removed the Scart to HDMI unit and the sound and vision was fine. Personally, I'm sick and tired of paying out on gizmos like this on 'positive feedback' only to find that what should be a 'no brainer' becomes a MAJOR embolism. NEVER again. I begrudgingly give one star as it won't allow minus 5
