I have an embarrassingly large collection of watercolor brushes—mostly natural hair (kolinsky sable, red sable and squirrel) and until now, had never found a synthetic brush I wanted to use.The Casaneo brushes have definitely changed that. They have a fabulous point that allows fine detail even in the largest brush, hold and release water beautifully, and have the perfect combination of flexibility and snap for me. I am completely sold on these, and find myself reaching for them over my “nicer” more expensive natural hair brushes.

Watercolor - such great ease!

Soft with just enough spring. I already had a Casaneo quill and decided to splurge on these. Not as big as I thought, but they are nice! Attatched is a comparison to my fingers. Really great tips when wet. one photo is a comparison between two of the same size, one is a princeton elite brush.

I bought these hand made brushes for watercolor painting due to a recommendation from artist/teacher Jim Black. I don't mind spending money on a good product, but I don't buy the recommended sable hair brushes because I do not want to use animal based products. The problem is that synthetic brushes typically do not hold enough water or color for some watercolor painting techniques. Also they tend to unload too much at once. These brushes are supposed to be cut and tapered like a real hair brush and capable of carrying a similar amount of water/color without unloading it all at once. Overall, they work as described by Mr. Black. I'm sure part of my difficulties are due to the fact that I have only been painting for 9 months, but I try to paint daily so I'm improving quickly. These brushes hold their point and when I have separated the hairs a quick dip in the water anda tap on the side of the container snaps them back in shape. I recommend these brushes to anyone who wants cruelty free quality watercolor brushes.

I added this set to a great collection of brushes i own, i enjoyed having a set that is a little more forgiving when it comes to using with more intensity. Kolinsky are generally more delicate and these play a great role in my watercolor paintings. They hold less water, but they behave very well compared with regular synthetic brushes, specifically tapers to a good point, snaps back really good and holding water is good. Good alternative to natural hairs. worth it the money for sure.

I bought several round brushes plus both the quill and flat sets. The quill brushes are my favorite! Holds the paint well. Releases it evenly on the paper. Holds a lot of liquid! The round and flat brushes are great. I like the Da Vinci round better that my hella expensive Windsor & Newton brands. The Da Vinci round brushes form a point easier and holds it longer than the Windsor & Newton. I wish I had first bought these brushes. I would have stopped looking and saved money!

I am very disappointed from the quality of this brushes. Two of them are unusable because the tip of the brush is ruined and the quality of the real hair brush is very very low to the point the brush can’t make a point when wet. I would expect more for the price and from this brand in general. Would not recommend this set.

Habe mir das Set gekauft, da der da Vinci Cosmotop-Mix B in Größe 10 darin enthalten ist. Eigentlich wollte ich mir diesen einzeln kaufen aber zusammen mit den 3 anderen Synthetik-Pinseln war das Angebot sehr verlockend. Denn der Cosmotop Mix-B in Größe 10 kostet eigentlich ca. 13 € und ist im Internet nur mit zusätzlichen 5 € Versandkosten zu bekommen.Was ich allerdings feststellen musste als die Pinsel bei mir ankamen: Eben dieser Pinsel hatte sehr viele abstehende Haare und viele andere waren komplett verformt. Auch nach dem ich den Kleber ausgespühlt hatte und ihn länger in Wasser getunkt hatte war der Pinsel nicht zu gebrauchen. Es kommt mir vor als wäre in dieses Set ein Ausschuss Modell gepackt worden. Habe eigentlich sehr gute Erfahrungen mit dem Cosmotop Mix-B in Größe 14 machen können und auch sonst ist bei mir noch nie ein Pinsel von da Vinci in diesem Zustand angekommen.Anders als der Mix- B waren die anderen Pinsel (bis auf Einer) zusätzlich mit Plastik-Röhrchen geschützt weshalb sie auch alle in gutem Zustand waren (Auch der nicht zusätzlich Verpackte). Es handelt sich um sehr gute Synthetik Pinsel welche sich gut für Aquarell im Hobbybereich eignen und eine gute Sprungkraft aufweisen. Besonders für Anfänger sind die Cosmotop-Spin sehr zu empfehlen.Deshalb vergebe ich immerhin 2 Sterne...

Estoy comenzando a pintar acuarelas y estos pinceles me resultaron maravillosos, son muy dúctiles, se pueden hacer tanto líneas finas como trazos gruesos, de hecho dibujar con ellos es divertido; cargan bastante agua y color, al mismo tiempo que recuperan bien el agua, por lo mismo las transparencias me resultaron mucho más fácil de hacer con estos pinceles. Feliz con la compra, son algo caros pero valen la pena, solo espero que me duren.

Great brushes for those who do not like any bounce back in their brushes. I like to use a combination of those kinds of brushes and ones that have a strong snap back. Unfortunately my size 0 had a dramatic curve at the tip so it was not usable to me. Amazon has refunded me for just that brush which is great but I am missing that brush which is hard to find where I live. I tried a few tricks some artists recommended but the brush bends every time it is wet.

I ordered these DaVinci series 5580 mini detail brushes for my projects and they are top quality I have to say! The bristles are vegan (a plus for me), short and pointy for exact detail placement, excellent grip with triangular body and well made overall. And with 5 different thin points from 10/0 to 0! Usual sets come thicker but I wanted even finer tips. They are pricy, mind you, but an ABSOLUTE investment if you wish to have one good mini brush set IMHO. I'm ecstatic about my buy and will repurchase if ever I have to without a hitch.
