money and headache saved
These devices are great. I have them in my pump house to control heat lamp and heat strips. There is no need to have the heat on when above freezing. Big savings on electric bill.

I use 2 TC3's - for well shed and animals- Use Common Sense!
I purchased 2 of the 'on at 35 off at 45' plugs. There several models so pick the right one for your needs. One keeps my water well pipes from freezing in a small shed and the other to turn on heat lamps for animals. The one in the shed is connected to a small 1500 watt ceramic heater. The other is powering two 250 watt heat lamps. Before I list pro's and con's consider this: If you are trusting the lives of animals or anything else that can't be easily/inexpensively repaired or replaced, be diligent. Don't just plug it in and forget it! Common sense folks. I check my animals throughout cold spells to ensure it is working! I also still drip my faucets even though I have a heater in the well shed, just more insurance to avoid a catastrophe. If you are using this because you can't ever be there, I suggest finding a commercially rated product that has insurance, if there is such a thing. I wouldn't trust thousands of dollars or animal LIVES to a 14 dollar plug without being there to ensure they are functioning.Pro's: -Working in tough conditions, especially in this 'arctic vortex' cold snap of jan 2014. Our low last night was 11 Faren. and will be about 14 Faren tonight (in Texas!). It also worked in the first hard cold snaps back in December. I Really like the TC3's as of now.Con's:-No indicator light however, you could use the additional outlet on the cube for nightlight as suggested by others.- Due to its horizontal structure when plugged in, it will need to be plugged into a single 3 way plug (or extension cord) so that it will 'fit' in some outdoor plugin receptacles. Regular outlets, no problem.- not so sure it should be exposed to outdoor weather so cover it with a zip lock bag or something to keep water out if exposed to wet conditions.I have owned these for a month so do not have a longevity report yet. So far, both work as advertised. On and off temps are slightly off but do their job to prevent freezing.P.S. I also own the easyheat EH38's which have a small indicator light that comes on _when energized_. they work fine but are a few dollars more and have only one outlet-have had one of those fail.-I own 4 of these. 1 wouldn't come on at all. The EH turns off at a higher temp, 50.

No frozen water this year!
Works as described. It shuts off over 35 degrees and comes on under. No problems with frozen pipes this year in an RV with the hose laying on the ground.

Does not work. Don't waste your money. JUNK! ... Read my "EDITs" below.
The Farm Innovators TC-3 Cold Weather Thermo Cube Thermostatically Controlled Outlet was supposed to turn on at 35-Degrees F. Last night, 11/19/20, the outside temp dropped below 35 degrees F to 26 degrees F for the first time since purchase. That's 9 degrees F below the advertized "ON temp. I intended to use this to turn on a simple light bulb to protect my wellhead from freezing. (It's what you do here in the south.)EDIT mid NOV 2020: ... Could not find a way to "Contact Seller" on the Amazon site, so, I searched for "Farm Innovators" and found a phone number. I called and reached a customer service rep. I was told that ... "Sometimes the thermostat sticks. Put it in the freezer for 30 minutes and then, quickly, plug a lamp into it and the cube into an outlet to see if the light comes on. Then wait for it to turn off as it warms up." Well, I did this several times and it seems to work now. Seems like this tidbit of information should have been included in the packaging. However, I am sceptical as to whether or not I can trust this thing to work correctly 100% of the time. I will use a "test" lamp in my detached garage for a while to see if it works correctly.Edit 6 DEC 20: Once again the temps outside dipped to 28F and the device still does not work. The "test" lamp in my detached garage did not come on. I purposely set my alarm for 3 AM, the coldest time of the night, to see if the light would come on. I cannot trust this thing to keep the water pipe from my well from freezing. Unless they send me a unit that actually works ... IT'S JUNK!

Works great for pump house, green house, chickens, etc
Love these things! Makes sure our heat lamps come on for the pump, greenhouse and chickens when it's cold. Can get a couple of different temperature settings. I don't have to worry about remembering to turn stuff on when cold. Just have the lights, heater, etc plugged into one of these and it'll be taken care of.

Works great, but keep it shaded from the sun!
These are great! Make sure you place it where it will be shaded from the sun!During the really cold (below 32) days during 2024 and this year, I had the block heater in my diesel truck plugged in allthe time when I the truck was parked. Now with the wide temperature swings I used one of these units so I could still leave the block heater connected. I also have a small outdoor LED lamp plugged into the outlet so I know when theblock heater is being powered. Several day ago I noticed that the block heater was off, but the outdoor temperature was30 F. I wondered about that and decide to check this out. The sun was out and the outlet was in the sun. I moved theoutlet into a shaded area and the heater came back on after a while. For the price, get two!
