A Year in Provence (Vintage Departures) Paperback – 1 May 1991

This is a lovely, warm book which makes you fall in love with the place and also its people. The subtle British humour shines through everywhere. Loved every minute of it. Beautiful rendition of gastronomic adventures along with the mad French. My favourite quote was ""And, as for the oil, it is a masterpiece. You’ll see.” Before dinner that night, we tested it, dripping it onto slices of bread that had been rubbed with the flesh of tomatoes. It was like eating sunshine.”

This book is an easy read, author detailing out their adventures in Provence in such a detailed manner replete with sarcasm, humor, and a dash of emotions. The author goes into depth of details to describe French food and wine, French mannerisms, and temper. It's a happy read overall 😊.

I love Peter Mayle and this is one of his best. It made me want to go to Provence NOW

This is such a beautifully written book. Warm, happy, funny... Makes me want to go to Provence and have my own little nook there.

This book is perfect if you feeling that restlessness to venture out. Enjoy the sun, wine, and good food. This book is for you if you have caught yourself daydreaming of quiet country houses.
