When I saw this product available for review on Amazon, I agreed to do so. I'm the chief cook in our household and had heard about the popularity of banana flour among friends following a plant-based diet.I'm giving this 5 stars because now I do understand more about their use of this ingredient and it's definitely as described on the product page.As a helpful tip, though, I want to add for other customers who might be reading this page: This is essentially a fruit flour that's an alternative to other flours. Although the description calls this "banana powder," don't mistake this for a shelf-stable way to add banana flavor to smoothies or baked goods.We did experiment with smoothies and mainly it acts as a thickener, which is what a flour-like product typically would do. There's not a lot of taste here. After all, as described, it is made from green bananas. We also experimented with muffins, which were OK, but weren't what most of us would consider banana muffins.So, if you are looking for an alternative plant-based starch and understand that this is a flour product, then I can urge you to order a pouch.

I used this banana flour to make pancakes and they turned out really well. I used eggs, milk, baking powder, vanilla, and banana flour. Made from green bananas this did not have a banana flavor but made good tasting pancakes. I like that this flour is gluten free, and high in potassium. It is believed that 2 Tbsps can contain as much potassium as 6-7 bananas.
