It’s just the perfect color and size

The first board we received was beautiful but showed every mark made by a knife and eventually the handle cracked at the very end. I did some research on acacia wood and decided I should get some Howard Products BBB012 Cutting Board Oil, to oil the board very lightly after each use. So far, it's working great. The knife marks hardly show and so far there is no split in the handle.I keep a small container for the oily cloth handy so after each use it's right there to do its job. I keep the board leaning upright next to my work area and it's resting on a paper towel, just in case any oil should happen to slide off the board, although I am careful to use the oil very sparingly.So far, so good. The original board lasted about three weeks before it cracked and was very scarred by knife cuts so we returned it to be replaced. I'm hopeful this one will go the distance and last for years.One other thing is that I drew a tiny smiley face on the handle of one side, so I only cut on that surface and the other surface stays pristine.

Pros: very decorative - we hung the cutting board on our kitchen wall and it’s very pretty. Works well enough for cutting.Cons: I really don’t like the hardness (no give) and sound of acacia. It’s my first experience with this wood and I’m going back to oak or maple- hard to explain, but the feel of cutting on this board is like cutting on a hard countertop. I will keep this as a nice decoration thou 😉
