wood lathe faceplate 2"
Very solid faceplate, good value. The only problem is that there are no flats for a wrench to remove it after use, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars. Currently I am using a 9" Robo-grip pliers with rubber covered jaws to hold the faceplate collar while I use a tommy bar on the spindle to break them apart for unscrewing. I am thinking about drilling a 1/4" hole in the collar or flange for another tommy bar instead of the pliers .

Sturdy face plate but no flats to allow removal
Well made faceplate with 3/8" thick flange and 4 mounting holes; lesser quality faceplates will be 1/4" thick with 3 holes. One negative is that there are no flats to get a wrench on to remove the faceplate if is tight on the spindle, which it almost always is. I drilled and tapped a hole in the edge of the flange to fit a short #10 socket head cap screw, which allows me to use a spanner wrench to break it loose. Additionally, it gives you no ability to lock the faceplate to the spindle, as you would have to do when running in reverse. To correct this I drilled and tapped two, diametrically opposed, #10-32 through holes on the body of the faceplate to accommodate brass set screws, when needed.

good quality material. Difficult to take off the spildle.
I like the quality of the stainless steel material. But it is completely round at the base. It doesn't have a way for me to use a wrench to take it off the lathe spindle. It is also too narrow to fit a rubber strap wrench on it. I had to turn the log that is screwed to the face plate to spin it off the spindle. When spinning it onto the spindle, don't tighten it or it would be difficult to take it off. I would have given it 5 stars otherwise.

Excellent quality
Compared to other face plates I looked at these seem like decent values. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and workmanship. I bought both the 2" and 3". Both are excellent.
