They break very easily but that is probably standard. I wish they had sturdy sleeves though.

I like the weight and feel of these crayons but disappointed they are made in China

I’ve been using Conté off and on for 20 years now, and while some people complain about how the “formula has changed” I can say that the old sticks I still have in my college art case are the same, or at least similar enough in quality to the ones I received today.I ordered 5 sets total. One basic set, 2 portrait sets, and 2 landscape sets. All were purchased from, and delivered by Amazon. One case was cracked a bit from being squeezed a bit, but *not a single stick was broken* in all 5 cases. Every one of the 36 sticks was unbroken. Please understand that while you are occasionally going to get a broken stick or two, exceptions like those pictured here may not be common. If it’s that bad, Amazon will replace them, but for the most part they are packed well enough to ship. I’m happy with my purchase, and hope that others have the same experience.

I've never used these before so will refrain from any critical reviews until I've had some experience.

The classic 3 and four color drawing assortment used by artists for two hundred years, and the replacement for the three colored chalks used by Baroque artistis like Watteau and Rubens. Works well and has a consistency similar to thin compressed charcoal sticks with which it also works well. The Sanguine and Bistre colors allow for a shading feel different than black but compatable with the black. White conte works well on colored paper to highlight areas.Covers all mark strengths and controllable in the hand. It shades well and smears nicely with finger or tortillion.

12 assorted colors i think not. i got 1 color and 1 color only and its just pure black. i have 0 clue why i got hit with all this misfortune but i now have 12 black sketching crayons and not a single other color.

These crayons are a delight to work with on almost all types of grounds. Light- to medium-rough paper works best for me. It is comforting to know that Conté quality standards are as high as ever.

Pastels are slightly smaller than expected, but a good range of earthy colours and the plastic box will keep them well protected. I'm going to use these to weather models, so will last for ages.

I have been using these for the past five years and find their covering and blending excellent and work particularly well when you want to work with a limited colour palette.

I usually do watercolour but these made an interesting trip into another media. Good quality materials.

These are lovely for quick sketches. Helps you to work more losely than pencil. Discovered them at my art group and immediately ordered some. Great to try a different medium.
