Q: is this galvanized after welding? or before welding?

It is galvanized after welding.

Q: Are the wires weaved in and out of each other or are they just layed in one direction? Is it good galvanizing or just barely done.

The wire is not interwoven. Galvanizing seems to be OK, however, it my be too soon to form a final opinion. I did find that the rows did not always finish on the edges, natural or trimmed, evenly across the width of the wire. For the cost I found it quite acceptable.

Q: what is hardware cloth? is it cloth material coating on galvanized metal?

It is wire that is used to make essentially a giant screen. In my case, I bought it to function as a sturdy chicken wire fencing on our coop and run. It is made of galvanized wire so as to withstand the elements. Not sure why the term "cloth" is in the name other than the fact that it comes in a giant roll.

Q: can you use this underground as a gopher shield?

The problem with galvanized is that it will deteriorate over time especially when it’s buried. Try stainless if you can afford it, this will last much longer.
