Q: How well do these nail clippers work on small birds?

I have only used these on a cat. However, I do know the size of the hole is specifically designed to a cat's claw in order to stop before it gets to the quick. I really don't know if, or in what way, bird's claws differ from cats. I assume you are a bird owner, and so may know. It would certainly cut a small claw. You may just have to be careful not to cut too far.

Q: will this work on a 25lb cat?

I’m not sure. It works well on a normal size cat. If you have a breed that is large, like a Maine Coon, I don’t know if their claw size is larger than the usual size cat. An obese cat should have the same claw size as a normal weight house cat, so I would think it would work on an obese cat. Dog clippers don’t work well because they are too large for a normal cat and cut too deep.
