UPDATE: This thing stopped working already and it's been 3 weeks. Pretty annoying as it's expensive. I went and ordered a $40 one from keto health care and it works faster. Doesn't have an app, isn't Bluetooth, the box is kind of bulky but it's a great alternative to broken equipment.Most people think there should be a direct reflection of "ketones" in the breath as there is in the blood. This is WRONG. You cannot measure ketones on the breath. However, you can measure acetone in the breath (yes, like a breathelyzer). Acetone on the breath is a by product of ketones being used by the body.Before getting into it, A FEW TIPS:1) Don't inhale a whole lot. Just take a light/medium breath and start blowing when you can control the rate at which breath enters the ketonix. its needs to be very gentle, like blowing on a fresh burn. The better you control the rate of flow, the more accurate the reading.2) When you first start, use the holes on the side mouth piece to let more air flow out while you learn to control your breath.3) exhale until you get super bored of waiting for air to come out. After doing it several times you will stop paniccing and you need to know that its imperative you just keep blowing, gently, at a control rate, for as long as you can.4) Set it up when you start thinking about eating so you can blow before the meal. Takes about 15 minutes to ready.Blood ketones are ketones available for use by the body. They could be made from fat cells, food, etc. This does not mean you are using them, it means your body is producing them... key difference there.Why does all this matter?The product helps you determine how many ketones your body is using rather than how many ketones your body is creating.Scenario 1: You are fasting and thus all blood ketones are made from your fat cells. This is great and will contribute to weight loss. On the other hand, how many of those ketones are actually being used by the body matters because lets just say the body is using the blood ketones as fast it can create them..... that means you would show very few or no blood ketones and would have pricked your finger for nothing. Flash forward, you decide you aren't happy with sticking your finger and blow into a ketonix, it reads you are in nutritional ketosis and once again all is right with the world.Scenario 2: (continued from Scenario 1) But you aren't happy... now that you know you can track how many ketones you are using, you decide you are going to start using more and trying to deplete the blood ketones so your body has to make more! MUAHAHAHA. So you start exercising, and the blood ketone levels decrease.. which you expected to happen, so you blow the ketonix and see that you are now beyond nutritional ketosis and into high ketosis. YES! SCORE! FINALLY! the weight is going to fall off now. So you wait a few hours and check your blood again... the levels of bood ketones have stabilized and increased. You blow the ketonix and it reads..... WHO KNOWS???!?!?!? it could be low or high or whatever. If its high then maybe you should take a break, if its low, then maybe you should get back at it.As your body gets used to producing ketones, it will get better and better at producing only what it needs to fuel brain, liver, heart, etc and this is commonly referred to as keto-adapted or fat-adapted. The excess ketones in the blood are from a lack of efficiency in your body demonstrated by producing more ketones than it needs. These get urinated out or just circulate until you use them. Either way, if you want a look at what your body is doing with the ketones it creates then this device is for you.How can I use this without testing the blood?Scenario 3: You are tired of sticking your finger. So you blow the ketonix 3 times a day. morning, noon, and night. You realize its always low in the morning and high at night but the time in between fluctuates too much. So..... you exercise in the morning, BLOW, snack instead of lunch, BLOW, exercise in the afternoon, BLOW, fast dinner, BLOW and start the next day with breakfast. Now when you go back and look at the day, you find that they were low in the morning before exercising but after exercising you blew a 15-30 ppm and thats great! you made your body use some ketones! Which means it had to make more blood ketones to keep you alive. After that snack at lunch you find that your BLOW registered a 10-20, obviously you aren't using as many ketones anymore or maybe that snack was a little carby. So after exercising in the afternoon you blow again and register 20-40 because your body is having to work hard to recover from the morning, fuel the current exercise, and all the other functions occurring in the body. You fast dinner and find that your levels are still between 15-40 ppm. Obviously the body is still recovering from exercise and is breaking down fat to keep you alive. Chances are that you have increase your MBR for the day because of the intermittent fasting and exercise. All the while, your blood ketones plumetted and rose over and over again as your body used energy in the form of ketones and you tracked it on your breath.WELL DONE!

I have bought about 4 of these over the past few years and they all stopped working or linking with the software. This newest model, which I was hoping was an improvement, stopped working after 4 readings. Would say ready, but would not measure....

Worked for about a week. Got 6 readings. Then the app screen would say ready but would not give a reading. Idea is good but hardware and software isn’t.

Tina is the Best!!!! Had issues with my unit, she stuck with me till the issue was resolved. Customer service is the best!! Don't be afraid to purchase from this seller, they stick behind their products!! Ketonix is a good brand and easy to use. Recommend highly, beats sticking your fingers fer sure.

The USB adapter doesn't fit in any USB slot. The unit is supposed to display colors based on reading results, but his doesn't work either; and it take far too long for unit to warm up. While the idea is great, the product is not worth the money they charge. Strongly suggest they go back and fix these problems. My wife, who isn't on keto, blew a 9.6 ppm. I lost trust in this device.

love the product but is overly difficult to set up. directions not clear at all. once you do figure the setup, it is a good product

This product is pure garbage. I have been a perfect keto regimen for weeks and test highly for ketones with both a blood monitor and the ketostix strips (I know, they're not as accurate). This device barely registers so it doesn't give me any good information. It also takes about 20 minutes to "warm up" just so you can use it. Also, the flashing light feature doesn't work at all. I emailed support and told them I wanted my money back and they sent me a long email explaining how I could have other health problems that would prevent me from being in ketosis, completely ignoring the part of my message that explained how I register high ketones on a blood monitor. So I guess they won't offer me a refund. I would go sell it online but I don't want to pass this piece of junk off to someone else.
