It's not balanced and won't stay put.
The light does not hang straight and it will not stay in any position. Some pictures above show the cable guide on top of the counter-weight and others it's on the bottom. Mine is on the bottom and doesn't seem like the right spot. It will fall all the way down, like the light socket and shade are too heavy for the counter-weight. Also, as stated in an earlier review, I did email this seller and have not gotten a response.

Doesn't Work Properly. Dismal Installation Instructions.
The counterbalance does not hold the light in a fixed position... it keeps slipping down and the only way it stays fixed is at an angle. The assembly instructions didn't address all necessary installation steps. For instance, step one should have been step six. There was no nut provided to attach the top pulley to the canopy. The bracket attached to the counterbalance was bent and had obviously been attached before since the paint was worn off. The ground wire was way too short to attach properly. This is the first poor review I've given for an Amazon purchase. I'm thoroughly disappointed to have paid $116 for such a poorly designed, obviously used product.

Junk-Do Not Buy
Peices were damaged. Does not hang straight. Cheap looking and does not look like the picture. Not worth the money. Do not buy.
