Perfect except for minor design flaw
Up front: I did NOT receive this for free for a review. I paid, so you're getting a non-promotional review here.Wish there were a 1/2 star option, because I would give this 4.5 stars. I drove myself nuts looking for a protective but lightweight 12.9" iPad Pro case with a pencil holder. Let me save you some time (and say first that I do recommend this cover):Pros: For the price, the quality of materials is very good. It's good-looking (if a little boring...put a sticker on it). The back and pencil tray are a solid, protective, semi-flexible rubber and the cover is cloth over board. The rubber covers all edges and buttons. Because the back and edges are rubber and not hard plastic, I'm not worried about chipping and breaking (as happened with two similar cases that were hard plastic, exposing the tablet edges). While the iPad fits inside securely, it's easy to get back out. The openings for the speakers, ports and camera are perfect. The pencil fits solidly into the tray and will not fall out (although I kind of wish there were a flap or something over the top to completely cover it). I don't know if the tray can accommodate the pencil cozy that everyone loves, but when I take the cap off to charge I stash it in the tray, so no need for a cozy. There are openings in the back of the tray so you can poke the pencil out (it's hard to dig your finger into the tray). The cover folds so you can sit the iPad in two positions, raised and fully upright (both landscape). It passes the flop-test: the heavy 12.9" iPad doesn't fall over in the upright position. Finally, the cover doesn't add much weight. Look at the weights of other covers--some are over a pound! This is a relatively light 12 oz.Cons:- Minor: The thick rubber makes the top and side buttons hard to press, which while super-protective is rather annoying if you want to adjust volume. Also, the folding cover does put lines on the screen, but they are easily wiped off.- Less minor: pencil tray design flaw. I wondered when looking at the pictures of this whether the left-justified pencil tray hit the table surface first and could throw off the balance, making the iPad wobble when the cover was folded into the raised position. (I am using the iPad to write and draw, and have it in the low-raised position most of the time.) Answer: yes. As you can see from the photo, the tray has bumper feet on the left and there is indeed air space on the right. Thus the cover wobbles veeeeery slightly, and puts a bit of strain on the hinge. Design-wise the pencil tray should be centered, or there should be a little "foot" or nub on the back of the cover to balance.Having said that, it's not at all a deal-breaker. I don't notice the wobble when working (you have to press very hard for it to go totally wonky), and the case is otherwise so nice that I'm not going to look for another. I may just stick a little pad on the back to fix the issue. If you have the iPad flat or fully upright, it's not an issue at all.If any problems result (like the hinge tearing), I will update this review. Meantime, I do recommend this case. I've bought the el cheapo cases. You get what you pay for: they chip, crack, don't fit, and fall apart in months. The more expensive cases aren't always worth the cost. This is an excellent in-between option.

Perfect solution for ipad protection and apple pencil holder
The feature of the apple pencil holder is what sold me on this case. Not just a loop, it sits in its own tray. To remove the pencilJust push on one of the 3 openings on the underside of the tray. There is no danger of the pencil falling out. It just feels like the ipad and apple pencil are finaly united. Someone has thought this out with this design. Believe I spenthours looking at other cases but if you own an apple pencil and want it readily available and secure this is it. Almost forgotto mention, the ipad pro fits perfect in this case.

Great Case, a must buy
I searched long and hard for the perfect Ipad Pro case, read hundreds of reviews on amazon and settled on this one. I've had this case for a few months now and I absolutely do not regret it. it fits the Ipad like I'd expect it to if it were made by Apple. It fits so well that when the lid is closed, you almost can't tell where the lid stops and the case begins. The case keeps the Ipad stable while sitting upright and at a good angle when lying down. The apple pencil has never accidentally dislodge and is held firmly in place. the material on the front and back of the case seems rugged enough to last a long time yet still looks stylish. If i had to think of one complaint, i wish while they were designing the pencil holder, they would have elongated it slightly, to fit the pencil charger, but that is a very very small complaint.

This case is excellent and just what I needed
This case is excellent and just what I needed. it's lightweight and holds my pencil (even with a silicone cap on it). It keeps the whole thing nice and slim so I can just slide it into my bag/purse/backpack. The volume buttons are not the easiest to use, but that's the least of my concerns, personally. I really wanted something that would protect the pencil and and ipad and not add too much extra weight or bulk.

This case is good but it stains very easily
This case is good but it stains very easily. If you're putting this on your counters it will develop spots from oil or other sguff thats on the counter but that's to be expected since its more ofns cloth type case. Great case, just wish it was a little more stain resistant.

Tried, Tested and like it and lot.
Really good case...worth the cost at 21.xx with the pencil holder. Better than other slim cases that I have had that are at 12.xx but chip easily and so you end up replacing them often. This one is not exactly slim but doesn't add a lot of bulk either (unlike some other folio cases. The face and back material is dust and liquid resistant and cleans easy; also doesn't feel dry or rough to the touch...well balanced. The edge is a rubberized or similar material and provides good protection for the ipad while feeling good to the touch too. When using it to stand the Ipad up, the case does a good job. While it may a tad more tough than the average cover or the apple cover to fold over, it stays in the triangulated position once it is folded over thanks to a magnet.Highly recommend this case.

Very good case for the first gen iPad Pro 12.9"
All I wanted was a case with a lid and an Apple pencil holder. But it seems that there are not so many options out there. After searching for a while, I found this iPad Pro 12.9 case. Even though it adds a little weight, my iPad (first generation, 2015 version) fits perfectly, and it holds the pencil tight enough so that you won't lose it but loose enough so that it doesn't fall off. It is easy to take the pencil out by pushing it from behind.I wish the lid was a tiny bit bigger so that I can just grab it more easily. But this is a very minor issue. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

Perfect case for iPad Pro and Pencil
Excellent case. Offers sufficient protection for my iPad Pro and holds the Apple Pencil firmly in place even with a cap keeper installed.
