I don't understand the descriptions: is this a gel pad, or a memory foam pad?

did you ever found the answer to this? the description says "GIM Mouse Keyboard Gel Wrist Rest Support Pad Set, Ergonomic Wrist Cushion Support with Memory Foam for Computer Laptop Working Gaming" , so still confused which one is gel and which one foam?

is this a good support if working on a laptop as opposed to a keyboard ie. I would be resting the middle of my forearms on it?

I would have said it was too small for your purpose. Both the keyboard and mouse rests are excellent but only if positioned close to the keyboard or mouse mat. I would seriously look for something which gives a larger cushion simply because the support for your forearm would be too localised to be comfortable.

is this two rests? a mouse rest as well as a laptop rest?

No, this is designed to sit in front of your keyboard and provide support to your wrists while you type. You could probably use it with a laptop but it's meant for a standard keyboard.

How long is this? In the image, it says 44 cm, but people are complaining it's too short for full-sized keyboards.

It is 42 cm long (pad rest is 40cm) , slightly shorter than my keyboard which has the number pad on the right. Hope that helps
