Can I conect sky box and t.v.to home cinema via optical cable.

You can if you need to keep the tv and sky box separate. To do this you would need 3 optical cables in total; 1 each from the sky box and and tv to the switcher and then another from the switcher to your home cinema. This is 1 of the best little gizmos I have bought for my entertainment system(I have my sky and ps4 connected) and there is no loss in sound quality at all.

I gpt a soundbar (present) with optical connector, my tv does not have an optical socket, will this work connecting to my tv audio sockets?

If your TV does not have an optical output then I don't see how this would help, you'd need a device to strip the audio from your HDMI and send it to the soundbar. This device is used to switch between two optical streams (eg one from TV, one from console) and send to audio system. Hope that helps!

Does the infrared receiver that plugs into the unit display which audio input is selected, or is the only such indication on the unit itself

The infrared receiver is connected to the IR port of the product, it is only to accept the infrared signal of the remote controller; the optical input state of the product is represented by the corresponding LED of the product.

Where would i get the ir codes for this device? i'd like to control it with my mobile phone (with built in ir blaster)
