Are you able to customise the scrolling direction?

Yes, to a certain extent with the Windows settings for touchpad. There's no specific interface for this hardware. The item description is accurate and describes what this can do. As far as I can see most of the more advanced finger combinations work without having to activate them. Scrolling is very good and that was what was misbehaving on my old HP W10 laptop. I don't think you can change things around for left hand use.

How does one left click or right click using your trackpad? I have pain in my fingers and thumb using more conventional mouse devices.

There are right and left click symbols on the lower part of the pad. If you tap your finger on them you get th equivalent of a right or left click.
