Technical but great!
This is definately a pretty technical book and I did find it a little daunting in places, but I love it! It is ALL in black and white. Only the cover has colour. It is very good value for money. I thought it would be quite small and thin but is a large spiral bound book.It is a step by step guide to drawing jewellery. Good if you already have an idea of how to draw jewellery but want to know how to draw in perspective. You can go through and do little projects slowly step by step to get it. There is a LOT of information on how to draw in perspective. Very detailed. I have to keep reading it over and over to get it as I have always drawn freehand. It also shows you how to use light and shadow and how to shade flat and curved surfaces and create textures.(such as sand blast, hammer finish, polish, etc..)There is information on drawing different cuts of gemstones such as faceted and cabochon cuts, also different types of pearls. Then putting them into settings and then into perspective. The back of the book contains drawings of jewellery on hands ears etc which is really helpful. This and Techniques of Jewelry Illustration and Colour Rendering by Adolfo Mattiello are my favourites, but value for money this book is amazing. The more I read through it the more I find.I just wish I had been taught how to use all the equipment recomended, such as the set squares, french curves, T-squares, 45' and 30/60' triangles as it doesn't show you how to use them.

professional/serious jeweller design tool
This book is incredibly good for showing how to render and accurately scale your jewellery design ideas in pespective. It ONLY has drawing & illustration - so if anyone is hoping for pictures of finished work examples, they'd be dissapointed. But for those of us that need to add the skills of technical drawing/rendering under our belts, this is a book the likes of which I have not yet seen. I'm extremely grateful to Tim at brynmorgan press for reprinting/releasing this valuable french publication!! (I wish I had been able to get it a year or so ago when I desperately needed it for my course work.)A brilliant dedicated perspective jewellery drawing course.

Definitely worth buying
This book is huge, and thick, let’s just get that out of the way. I love that it shows you how to technically draw rings and all sorts of shapes of faceted gemstones. Definitely was worth buying, and will keep this in my bookshelf for reference.

Illustrating jewellery for (almost) beginners
I went to a short introduction seminar on technical design for jewellery about a month ago and I loved it so much that right after it ended I started looking for books on the subject. I could only find this one and I have to say that I'm grateful to Mrs. Audette for writing this book, that there is an English version of it and that Amazon.com delivered it from the USA to Europe in such a short time (10 days). The book introduces technical design for jewellery objects and also rendering by hand (shadows, lighting, etc.).It starts off with two-dimensional drawing and then goes on to more complex perspective drawings. However, I would have preferred it if the initial examples where more detailed, with step-by-step explanations, because I've had no previous experience in technical drawing and if I hadn't taken that introductory course, I would have had difficulties in understanding the exact drawign process as described in the first chapters.Nevertheless, I find this book a delight to hold, look at and work with.A definite 'must' for all jewellery design lovers out there!

Jewelry Design
I purchased this book for my daughter's birthday. She loves designing jewelry; this book is very detailed and she found it most helpful. Using the concepts she learned from this book, she has designed some beautiful pieces. I would say this book is for the advanced.

I liked that this book was very technical
I liked that this book was very technical. Drawing jewelry is really anout understand angles and perspectives and while that can be a bit intimidating, I found this book very helpful in teaching these sometimes confusing concepts.
