Works great to mitigate ESD at my desk
I purchased this to mitigate static discharge at my desk in my home office, specifically during winter months when the air is dry causing me to generate static just walking around the house. It's a great size for my desk. My keyboard and a few other desk items fit on it. I've connected the alligator clip included from the snap on the mat to the case of my desktop PC. The wire for that clip more than long enough to get to my PC which is actually on a small cart on the floor under my desk. The second snap and wrist strap will come in handy when I need to perform hardware maintenance or upgrades to my PC. I've set my hot coffee mug on it and that certainly hasn't damaged it, but I haven't tested it with anything like a soldering iron, so I can't truly say how resistant to heat it is. Material feels nice, similar to other ESD mats I've used, with an underside that prevents slippage. The mat had a detectable but weak odor when I first removed it from the box which fully dissipated after only a few hours. Overall it was a worthwhile purchase and a good value.

Good mat
Good big enough mat to work on.I wish it was delivered in more organised way

Very good mat
This is a great anti-static mat. The top material is very tough and hard to cut and nick, perfect for working with electronics, with sharp cut resistors, and caps.

Aantistatic mat kit.
I used this to replace one that had many battle scars. This one is good quality and a basic necessity.

This is NOT the same Mat that it use to be - Don't purchase
I purchased this model mat from the same company several years ago. I love the mat that I got back then... the mat I recently received, is NOT the same mat. They're not the same color, not the same material, the new one is smaller AND the new one has ZERO continuity between the the metal tabs. The original mat measures about a megaohm between the tabs. Also, the original is heat resistant where as the new one is rubbery and seems like a blob of solder would melt it. Don't waste your money. Purchase one via Jameco instead.

Antistatic Not
The blue matts make for an attractive work surface on which to assemble electronic circuits. However, if you measure continuity between any two points on the matt with an Ohmmeter, you will find it to be non-conductive (high quality ESD matts should show measurable conductivity.) The instructions show a ground lead connected directly to the assembly you are working on, a give-away that the manufacturer acknowledges that ESD grounding does not occur via the matt itself. A small bottle of "Mat and Table Top Cleaner" is provided, which cleans it fine, but does not help ESD properties. You get what you pay for.

Nice ESD Mat, Definitely Recommended
This does exactly what it is supposed to do, protect ESD sensitive circuits and components. I wondered how heat resistant it was so I touched the tip of my soldering iron to it and there was no problem. I wouldn't suggest that anyone lay the soldering iron on it as practice, but an accidental drop or contact occasionally will not hurt it.The wires for the grand clip and wrist strap are very lite gauge, but sufficient. Good for most test and repair bench business and great for the hobbyist.Definitely recommended.
