A word about the English dubs...
When Cardcaptor Sakura was localised for the US and most other English speaking markets (including the UK) it was localised as 'Cardcaptors', a heavily bowdlerised localisation that changed the names of most of the characters and the places, removed or censored content like the romantic relationships (even the heterosexual ones), replaced all of the original music and generally tried to change the show from a female oriented series into a male oriented one. The result was heavily panned by fans of the original series (who at one point had dubbed it 'Cardcraptors') and the resulting poor DVD sales of the localised Cardcaptors led US distributor Pioneer/Geneon to release a fully uncut and unedited, Japanese only subtitled release of the original Cardcaptor Sakura, the subtitles for which are used on this release. That is NOT the English dub used for this release. The English dub used for this release was a separate dub created in Hong Kong by Animax Asia to be aired in English speaking markets in Southeast Asia. Compared to Cardcaptors, the Animax dub has considerably fewer edits although still many episodes were never dubbed.Nevertheless, the English dub included in this release is included for the sake of completeness, and for those who enjoy English dubs. This is primarily a Japanese language release geared towards fans of the Japanese original and, indeed, this release only contains audio for all episodes in Japanese. If you are fan of the original Cardcaptor Sakura, this is the release for you. With high image quality sourced from the 4K Japanese remasters, this is the best the series has ever looked. If you are a fan of the localised Cardcaptors, you should probably look elsewhere
