Excellent Shears
I'll admit that I was a bit hesitant at first to spend $100 on a pair of trauma shears that I get for free at work. I'm a firefighter/EMT and use these often. Someone at work had this same leatherman tool and I got to use his first hand. I was impressed. Not only are they stronger and will outlast the free shears, but they fold up and has other handy uses that just make this pair of shears more personal. Well, I broke down and ordered my own and I'm glad that I did. I've already used them for miscellaneous reasons around my house. They re lubricated to make use simple and I already love mine! The belt holster is also pretty cool. I wasn't going to use it at first because I thought it would be too bulky, but I tried it on and its more convenient to fold up my shears and slide them in the clip for safer storage instead of my pocket. I'll get great use out of the O2 wrench and seatbelt cutter i no time, The ring cutter as a bit on the thin side, but I'm sure with 2 quick cuts I'll be able to get a rind off someone in need with ease until the man vrs machine tools get on scene. Love my shears!

Amazing Gift for the Nurses in your life
I purchased the LEATHERMAN Raptor Rescue shears for my boyfriend's mom, and she absolutely loves them! These heavy-duty emergency shears are not only practical but also packed with features. The built-in tool for O2 tanks is a standout, giving her peace of mind knowing she has everything she needs in one compact tool. The quality is top-notch, and the design is both functional and user-friendly. Whether she’s working in healthcare or just needs a reliable tool at home, these shears are a fantastic addition to her kit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for versatility and reliability in emergency tools!

After 35 Years, The Best Trauma Shear Cutting Action I've Ever Seen
Absolutely incredible. At first, I was hesitant to buy this pricey item in that, with 35 years experience in using Trauma Shears, I imagined it was just another player late in the game producing a featureless but steadfast money making item of the rescue world. Given all the Leatherman's type of "Swiss Army" features, I first thought it to be first aider's belt trinket, attractive only to rescue wannabees...I was wrong. After using this thing just once, I was immediately stunned by how frighteningly powerful these shears are. Yes, regular trauma shears are great in that, if you hold them at just the right angle and there is just the right tension on the cloth; one can effortlessly slide the blade of the shears across the material and make an impressively long cut. But the problem with this technique is that once the material bunches or folds up in an uncooperative way that counters the "perfect" angle, the blade cutting action comes to a grinding halt and one needs to employ the scissoring action of the shears. It is at this point that common shears fail and the Raptor shines. I was cutting through one patient's shirt and it had gathered up; anticipating at least several furious passes to break through the mass of coiled fabric I was stunned when it was done with two simple snips. The Leatherman literally took HUGE bites and never slipped or choked on the cloth. Curiously intrigued by this, I purposely repeated the same type of cutting action by grabbing a section of the patient's pants, pulling them down to just above the knee (where an IO line was already placed); the material was now gathered into a miniature log of fabric wet with saline in my hand; Snip, snip, snip... done! Another caregiver (who was attending the code alongside with me) witnessed approvingly of the ease of the Raptor's cut by saying out loud, "...damn, that thing is sharp."Afterwards, I closely examined the blades on the Raptor and found them to be heavier and thicker than regular shear blades; one side is also tightly serrated which I suppose allowed it to dig into the material and not slip at all. Nicely done. The inclusion of the Strap Cutter, Ring Cutter, Glass Punch and O2 Wrench Key, along the the Non Slip Holster makes this a very versatile "must have" on any rescue worker's belt. The only down side is the many moving parts of the folding action, which necessitates tremendously tedious attention and care in cleaning. If heavily contaminated with blood or body fluids, I would recommend first bagging the item if you need to travel, and at your earliest opportunity, rinsing the thing in plain water. Thereafter a complete immersion and soaking in a disinfectant bath while working the actions of the various mechanical parts is in order, to ensure a thorough cleaning. There are also two spring action buttons (one on either side, which allows the shear to fold into itself) which may entrap infectious material that is almost impossible to clean unless one uses an autoclave. Once disinfected, thoroughly dry the item before replacement back into the holster. BTW, the Non Slip Holster is exactly that. The Raptor can even be held upside down in the directionally adjustable holster and it will not fall out.Overall, in it's primary function, that of cutting through clothes in an emergency situation, this is the best I've seen after a lifetime of emergency care. Easy Five Stars.

Expensive but worth it. High quality.
These are pricey but worth it. They fold up to a nice compact size. You can re-sharpen them. They can be carried in the folded up position or the unfolded position. I have 3 pairs on different EDC backpacks. They are amazing. I have recommended them to several friends.
