Intriguing character growth both mentally and physically. How much dedication does it truly take to understand the way of the sword? What is the answer at the end of the path? This series has a philosophical background but you can read it just for the fights - there are both of those in this volume. Also, for me, it is interesting how plain violence is accepted as a normal thing during the timeperiod depicted in this series.

In this volume of the bigviz edition we are introduced to Musashi's rival Sasaki Kojiro. It focus on the early years of Kojiro and him growing up in an isolated part of Japan.Its still full of the lovely pen drawings and also contains colour pages that you know have been done with love. This series just gets better and better and the artwork is just breath-taking.The historical information at the end is still there but its just repeating itself now but is always appreciated.
