the pointer is very well magnetised and doesn't bounce about, finding north fast, and the finely placed bearings and measurements with adjustable dial makes this a very complete compass without having to splash out on anything more.

Just for hillwalking around UK this should do the job as a cheap compass easy to read what extras are really needed

I used this a couple of times out hill walking and it did the job but was out by a bit when i compared it to my friends compass that were more expense saliva compass. the dial has all so started to come loose from the plate. so not very durable.save your penny and buy a betetr one.

Almost identical to my military Silva {degrees not mils} and a third of the price..... but it's early days, and I do not expect it to last like my Silva did, but I can't find it - hence the purchase. Good enough for day to day map work and a cheap way into orientation, both the sport and the skill. This will only get occasional and not heavy use, otherwise I would have paid the extra and gone for the real thing, a Silva.
